Sosuave Focus Group...How Can We Make It Better?

I've heard plenty of complaints. I want to know what you think would make Sosuave a better forum. So far, off the top of my head, I can think of...

- A field report forum
- An online dating forum
- A PUA tactics forum
- A relationships forum
- A business forum
- A Newbie forum/section for introductions, etc.

What kinds of things do you think we can do to make Sosuave better? What I mean is, we have over 24,000 members but only maybe 200 actually post. That means the others are barely ever here, or don't bother posting because it isn't catering to their needs.

Suggestions?

i think the members should stop making posts about blazers, because there are 6 pages of fashion threads that contain the word blazer already when you do a search at the top of the page.

Pen's on the right track; it's not the forum, it's the forum's members. Things tend to go off into the ditch when the posts are more about personal promotion in disguise of tips and tricks.

Well I think people should have to take TESTS based on the DJ Bible before getting a membership to save other people's time and energy. Highschool forum and main discussion is overrun by the same stupid AFC quetions. If people read the DJ bible and used the SEARCH function I bet it'll be more constructive to EVERYONE. Also the mods should ban people's IP addresses to ensure that trolls and annoying people like Wyldfire won't come back.

if they tested everyone before they let them become members, how would anyone pass and become a member in order to gain the knowledge that they need to have to help themselves ? you gain the knowledge after becoming a member and being a part of the site.
however, they did put in that nifty rep point thing to help other members along those lines.
the bible was used more when there was a link to it at the top of the page, or thats how i remember it.

there were so many disagreements about religion and politics that lead into horrible flaming, that lead to the rule that it is taboo now.
after politics were not allowed, some members still did not stop and eventually got banned.
it could have gone the other way, however instead of discussing things in a mature manner, people just wanted to argue that they were right and other opinions were wrong and unacceptable to be discussed and they wanted to prove each other wrong.

I'm not sure what you exactly mean, but I do agree there is a lot of ranting and raving. I have to admit that I'm not completely innocent either.

LOL @ the blazer threads. I noticed that too, it's pretty funny. One thread would be quite enough.

I also think a minimum posting requirement would be a good idea. Maybe not a test of DJ materials as like Penkitten said you learn those after being here - but how about having to state your intentions for being here, and you have to get approved for posting rights. Or, having a limit on number of posts people can make, etc. Rather than ban a poster altogether, how about only ban them from certain forums?

i think more people should really take advantage of just their gut when they read advise here.
some of it, you just have to take with a grain of salt.

There's been several people who have brought up testing over the years. It's a good concept but the thing is that even though the Bible has a ton of good information in it, not everyone can 'get it' and even if they do, there will always be an experience that either isn't covered or will need some action that goes completely against 'the rules.'

At the same time, one of the things that holds some guys back is that they adhere to the Bible so strictly, kinda like how some people adhere to The Bible. None the less, memorizing the Bible won't guarantee anyone success; understanding the Bible will take them further.

Oh I'm not denouncing a good rant. It's more of the posts like:

Oh yeah, some do believe that it's just a numbers game and that you have a better chance in hooking up if you just approach more women. It doesn't matter the type of women or what you say, all that matter is that you just approach a ton of women. Basically not sarging purposely, like shooting an arrow at a target without aiming.

Hey guys, I just logged in after not looking at this for ages. I guess a long term girlfriend will do that. But hey I like where this thread is going. This board could use some serious revamping guys.

1. Why not do testing? Correct me if I am wrong, but we are just trying to filter out some of the spammers or idiots who post here. Why not just a very simple test based on the DJ Bible as was mentioned above? Then people get rights to access the rest of the forum. And yes the Bible probably was more useful as a link at the top, why did it ever get taken down?

2. Guys why do I not see a perpetual DJ Boot Camp category going, with a constant recruiting effort going on? I think we could all benefit from some more hands on learning.

3. On another side note, it took me AGES to realize that gems like DJBC and weapons of mass seduction existed, perhaps we can set up a really easy read these 3 books immediately kinda thing for new members?

I have come down from the heavens to rule on this issuse:

There will be no online dating forum, because online dating and DJism is an oxymoron.

There will be no field report forum, because that's what the discussion forum is for.

ditto for relationship forum

There will be no PUA forum. If you are interested in PUAism, there are plenty of sites, but there is only one Sosuave. We will not contaminate it with the filth that is PUAism

there will be no newbie forum,, however there should be a mandatory 5 grace period from when a person signs up to when he can post, so that he can read the DJ bible, which needs to be updated/changed. A test will then be provided to the new person and if he cannot answer basic questions proving he read the DJ bible, he cannot post.

There WILL be a business forum, because just a healthy DJ is a good DJ, a DJ should be a well rounded person, including financially. We have people here that can quote the DJ bible in their sleep but still work at burger king with no aspirations to do better, and we also have people who are more than qualified to provide sound business advice.

The stickies at the top of the forums were a good idea. Too bad many didn't bother to read them.

The one thing I think would be good is a sort of mentoring forum dedicated to "old timers" helping newcomers in their bootcamp and self-improvement journals. Some of that goes on in the DJ discussion, but the threads tend to get buried quickly... out of sight, out of mind.
