I'm going to give you guys something a little different than the usual posting style. These are some ideas to chew on, see how they fit into your life. This is going to be a monster post, but it will have many nuggets of gold. This is class notes, so some of it will be extreme feministic BS. There is some good stuff too though that you won't see in this format on seduction sites.
Male Deficit Model = a view of friendships that claims men are deficient in forming and participating in close relationships. According to male deficit model men's ways of experiencing and expressing closeness are not simply different from those typical of women but are inferior.
Basically, this is where all that stuff about guys crying over their childhood, get in touch with the feminine side stuff comes from. Obviously, I don't agree with this model. As it turns out, it's not supported by research. See Below.
Alternative Paths Model = View of relationships that claims masculine and feminine ways of creating and expressing closeness are distinct, and both are valid. Argues that when are only seemingly inferior when measured with a feminine ruler.
The important part APM is to understand men show closeness through activities more than women, and women are more likely to show through talk than males. It's also important to know that women use both instrumental and emotional talk, whereas men tend to focus on downplaying or fixing problems which can annoy women.
Hopefully, no one in this group has anger or control problems but if you know someone who is in that situation understand this:
Abusers are not scored differently on measures of mental health and personality standardized tests.
Many victims of battery have nowhere to go and no means of supprting themselves. Many do not see shelters as a viable option.
Abuse occurs in all classes of people.
Abuse is seldom stopped without intervention.
Victims of battery are more likely to be murdered by their abusers if they leave.
At least 28% of women suffer physical abuse from partners.
1 in 12 American women have been the victim of a stalker.
It is against the law to stalk someone in all 50 states.
25% of all female murder victims were killed by husbands/BFs, and 3% of male murder victims are killed by wives/gfs.
There is an actual model called intimate partner violence cycle. That's how common this stuff is. It has four stages.
1. Tension Stage: Abusive partner blames problems or not being supportive. Psychological battering and insults, threats, taunts begin. Even if the victim walks on eggshells it rarely helps as the abuser is looking for an excuse to relieve frustration by exerting power over another.
2. Explosion Stage: Tension errupts into physical violence, and one or more battery incidents occur. The attack may occur while the victim is relaxing quietly or even sleeping. Often requires hospitalization.
3. Remorse Stage: The abuser appears contrite and remoseful. The abuser may even apologize and typically promises it will never happen again. The victim sees the "good person" inside and remembers what led to the commitment.
4. Honeymoon stage:Abuser is courtly and lovingly. The victim becomes convinced the act will not reoccur-even if it has many times.
