someone explain this line

There's a song out called "New york" with Ja, fat joe and jadakiss. In Jada's verse he says
"and i'm not ****y, i'm confident,
so when you tell me i'm the best its a compliment".

this line been really buggin me cause i cant figure out what being confident has to do with taking a compliment...(yes i have a lot of free time at the moment)

so,any ideas?

For ****s sake, its rap music and not prose. Her probably just did it like that because it rymes.

I suggest you read some actual poems because your mind seems very inquiring towards interpreting stuff.
