Some sites just dont show up! Help!

Hey all, my pc is kinda messed up at the moment, some websites (that do exist!) dont show up when I type in their address or click a link to them. Also, some sites show up but all the images dont show up (just that white box with the red x in em).

Its really messing up my surfing experiences! :p

Could it be a virus? Spyware? Etc.?

Any programmes that may help me with this prob? thanks
