"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Today I was flipping through the channels, watching TV and I saw that on MTV they had this show called "Wanna come in" (or something like that). Now, I normally despise most MTV shows, but this is a show that all the AFC's out there should be watching.

For those that haven't heard of it, it's basically a blind date show. They pick two "studs" (DJs) and two "duds" (AFCs). They become two teams consisting of a stud and a dud. The stud goes to meet the dud and he finds out some on his dating background, gives him a few tips, and then he sets him up to go out on a blind date with a hottie. While on the date the dud wears a little earpiece so that the stud (who is in a back room watching on camera what happens) can tell him what to say when he needs it. By doing certain things they get extra cash and they get to keep it if the girl invites them in at the end of the date.

Now, the reason I think all the AFCs should be watching this is because you can learn from it. Some of the stuff the studs say to do is pretty helpful, and you can basically see dates in action, which will help you know what to and what not to do. And when you see the dud do something wrong that you may do, listen to what the stud has to say and maybe you can apply that.

My one gripe with the show is the little cash bonus things they do. They seem to only interfere and make the girl feel uncomfortable and like them less. For example, in the episode I saw today they had to toss something back and forth twice with their date while at dinner. So one guy had to throw is napkin at her and when he did the second time the girl got a little mad. This seems to set them back more. But I suppose it just makes it all that harder to accomplish the task at the end, and it could be a confidence booster for the guys (if they can do stupid stuff like that then they should be able to do simpler things they may have previously thought difficult).

Anyways, anyone seen the show and have comments on it?

For those that haven't I suggest you check it out.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Hmm...I've never seen this show, but I question its value. People tend to not act natural when they are on camera, let alone TV.

Do you mean the girl or the guy? I can see your point with the girl, but with the guy it's not really an issue since he's an AFC anyways and you're not trying to copy what he does. But the stud's advice is valid camera or not. And the girls I've seen on it seemed to act normal enough, but who knows.

I think that show is hilarious. The "players" they get to coach the guys are a little bit too stereotypical Hollywood style guys, but sometimes they give out decent advice.

I watch it with my buddies sometimes and we try to predict who gets invited in. More often than not I can choose the guy who gets to come in for "coffee."

If anything, take it with a grain of salt.

Not sure about this. Seems like they're focusing on "techniques" or "tricks" to woo women. Wooing women makes you more confident in WOOING, but not as a person.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
