Because it is in OUR nature to have both the ideal and real in mind.... and one will predominate over the other. The more idealist minded will create his reality because for him reality is full of potential and possibility. You can "create your ideal" all you like but as in life there's levels to shyt. Not everyone comes out the winner they envisioned. Not saying to not believe in yourself but to be cognizant that not everyone is going to end up as the "cream of the crop" as they'd want to be.

Yes, the problem is this complete split between idealism and realism today. The idealist can seem delusionary with an utter disregard for reality... from the realist's perspective. But these two should be considered like two sides of the same coin.... just as we have both an inner and outer life. The ideal is the real. The reality is there are various limiting conditions within which we can develop to a certain extent. We can not become an omnipotent being, but we can become a better man. It's all relative.

I actually think that a lot of the guys who come here DID want a girlfriend or a wife and a family, but were disappointed to find that the nature of women and today's laws and culture have made that more difficult than they anticipated. So in reaction to that, almost as a form of defense, they bought into the whole plate spinning, IDGAF, player mentality.

There are also guys who come here and really just do want to screw as many women as possible, but they aren't the type to complain about monkey branching or hypergamy so much, unless maybe they lost a chance to get a lay because of it.

Yes, leading to a defeatist attitude harboring anger, bitterness and resentment. These negative emotions fuel the 'game', where you want to be a winner, women are now just means to an end.. not ends in themselves.

Better to find your own ground and your own strength. Learn a few defensive skills in order to deal with the chaos, and always be open to lowering that draw-bridge for a worthy woman.

This is a complicated phenomenon. I think there is something intrinsic to being male that puts this notion into your head that females prefer you over their other options, and that other guys are somehow losers. Look at all the posts here that point out how most guys are no real competition, that most are lame and AFC. I think this is tied to women being attracted to "confidence" as a masculine trait. Because it does seem to be a masculine trait for guys to think that they are somehow better than the next guy, even if they know deep down it isn't true. But the onus is usually on the male to do the "mating dance" to attract the female, and this "delusional self confidence" gives them the nerve to go out and display their feathers.

This is true. Men do not have backup girls. Men are vine swingers. We hold on to the vine we are with until it's time to let go and then we take a risk of falling by leaping to the next vine.

A real man goes for what he wants and gets what he wants, so he will date only his favorite girl, so long as she lives up to his expectations. Then he goes to find another girl.

A big reason for this is that women don't wait around for sloppy seconds like men do, so we can't place women in orbiter mode. If there are 2 girls and you choose one, the other one will never, ever live it down. You're supposed to like her better than any girl in the world, nevermind better than any girl at the table.
