So what is the exact purpose/reason of a f--- buddy relationship?

First, I am going to present my own speculation as to what such a relationship is to the male & female.

For the man, he is basically saying that he does not find the woman to have sufficient relationship sexual market value to be in a monogamous relationship with her, but he does have at least some sexual attraction for her to want to stick it in. It could be that he has a high level of attraction for her, but that she has a kid, and so does not want to commit, but definitely wants to stick it in. It could be that he is just not looking for a relationship, and wants to play the field, and being horny, he takes sex whenever he can. It could be that he wants to have a harem type of relationship (which by definition means not looking for a monogamous relationship.) It could be that although he is looking for a good quality woman for a relationship (which does not necessarily mean that he wants to get married at that time), he has been unable to attain such a relationship with a woman of that quality, and is sufficiently horny to still stick it in a woman who is of less quality (be it whether the not good quality is in attractiveness or personality/sanity :crackup: .)

For the woman, aside from the cougar situation, I just have to think that any f--- buddy relationship is basically her wanting to be in a monogamous relationship with him, and hoping that by always being there for him, it will give her "points", such that when he tires of the hassles of picking up women in the singles scene, that he will just settle for her. Of course, she also has the added ability of being able to have an "accident", which could "put the question" to him about their relationship.

So what do you think? Any other reasons?

OP I think you've analyzed it well. I've had lots of casual relps and all of them were looking for something more.

Oddly enough, the chicks who banged me quickest were also the easiest to get into serious relps very quickly if I wanted.

For example, in 2008 I banged a chick at her place on our first date, and 3 days later on our second date. These were basically "go out for drinks then go back to her place and screw" "dates." The second morning she let me sleep in while she went to work and when I got up there was a key to her front door and a note telling me to take the key. :nervous:

Because you are 46 years old, this perspective should be a valid one for you (and me too, were I not happily married!)

There are women, say aged 35 and older, who have "been there and done that" when it comes to relationships. Many of these women have shaped impressive lives for themselves, with success in the workplace, financial security and the ability to raise their children (if their children are still at home, the woman is NOT looking for another daddy).

These women are not currently looking for a full relationship. No, the part of the relationship they need is the PHYSICAL part! Hot damn! While it is unlikely for a 22 year-old man to find what I'm talking about, it is VERY likely that someone like yourself can be what she's looking for. It is GOOD to be forty-something.

This kind of woman could give a rat's behind if you drive a 2012 Camaro or can drink three beers in thirty seconds. And the type of woman I'm talking about isn't a cougar... She is not looking for younger guys, and probably dresses fairly conservative.

Am I talking about a dream here? Actually, no, as I know several women just like this. If you are a DJ in his thirties or older, or even a DJ in the early stages of training, you can pull this off. Get your act together and be what this type woman is looking for. No further babble from me is required.

Add in divorced women. They probably not looking to jump into anything serious at first. She might have a couple random flings, then move on to a steady FWB for a while.

I will also add that a LOT of relationships start out as FWB. Plenty of people really are afraid of giving up their freedom so fast. So they enjoy the lustful fun for a while. What usually happens is female gets attached (and the guy somewhat also) and she upgrades him from FWB to boyfriend.
