I've never been a tinfoil hat kind of guy. Having said that, it's been known for a long time that the governments of various nations, including the U.S., monitor internet traffic to some extent. And in light of the recent revelations about "Prism" and other secret U.S. government programs, the extent of this monitoring appears to be more extensive that what I previously believed. Essentially, the U.S. government either already is or soon will be monitoring and recording ALL communications that take place over the Internet. Their only limitation is storage, but storage capacity is expanding exponentially every year.
The next logical step is to use data mining tools to create psychological profiles of individuals based on archived communication data. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing it already (all in the name of public safety, of course). So anything you write on SS, for example, will be processed, analyzed and encompassed in your psychological profile. Then, a computer will decide whether you need to be flagged as a potential trouble maker. Interesting times.
