So I found out i'm short

so I went to the doctor friday for a physical and they measured me, i haven't been measured... in years. i had just assumed i was 5'8. so she measures me and i'm like by chance how tall am i lol? She's like you're 5'7 and 1/4th. I'm like no i'm 5'8. shes like nope lol.

it's like my whole life has been a lie lol. it's funny because i've never been self conscious about it because i never thought 5'8 was really short. My wife can'ts top laughing so she's really 4 inches taller than i am

I swear a person's height can vary. I've been 5'10" forever, but I remember being measured at about 5'9 1/4" before, which really upset me lol. I put it down to shrinking with age. Then the last time I was measured at a touch over 5'10". I think it may have something to do with how stretched out your spinal cord is at any given time.

Whenever I measure my height as carefully as I can, I get 5'10 3/8" to the top of my head.

I went for a physical, and the nurse claims I'm 5' 9.5".

The only thing I noticed was that she took the measurement VERY QUICKLY. I didn't even have a chance to fully stand tall. I likely was slightly slouching. That's probably what happened.

The medical business is in sales and marketing just like any other. This is why you will usually end up 10 lbs heavier and an inch or two shorter at the doctor's office.

I went to the dentist over a year ago. There was minor gum bleeding around one tooth and very slight gum receding around a couple of teeth. He told me all my teeth would fall out within a year if I didn't get a) a $1500 deep gum cleaning, b) a $100 a month periodontal course of treatment, c) a couple grand of his services afterward. "I'm surprised your teeth aren't already falling out."

I bought a soniccare toothbrush and started alternating hydrogen peroxide and antibacterial oral rinse, baking soda and peroxide toothpaste... $70. Over a year later, my teeth and gums have never been healthier.

My mother got a back brace recently. It is a piece of ballistic nylon, straps and velcro without any metal that very obviously cost less than $20 to make. Cost? $1500. Checked ebay for knockoffs, the identical brace cost $50 brand new.

don't get me started on dentist. every time i go to the denist i might as well have ebola of the gums lol. dentist are the worst

My gf worked for a doctor for a long time. The doctor will b!tch if there is not a height and weight written on the chart when he sees the patient, with the rationale being a drastic change could have been missed, which could lead to a malpractice lawsuit. Most of what they do, and certainly anything on paper, is about covering their ass from lawsuits. The people in the office don't really give a sh!t about anything except not getting yelled at by the doctor.

One of the things I noticed about mma fighters was that their relationships with their fathers resembled that of strippers. The father was typically completely absent. That is unless the fighter was about five-seven or shorter. Those guys were all best friends with their dads; dad would be cornering the fight. So tall fighters fight because they hate their dad, and short fighters fight because they have short man's complex.

That's a good point. The shorter you are, the higher your BMI, the higher your health risk.

I get really annoyed with doctors, dentists, and such. Once they get you into their system, it's like you've become a regular stream of income for them. They want to keep you coming back for more, whether you need to or not. Sometimes it's like a hardcore sales pitch.
