Off the peg stuff will never look as good as the movies
I've tried on a couple of long coats, because I think it's a cool look. You know, sort of like the deputies in Pale Rider who wear those long duster coats. But they didn't look right on me, somehow they made me look short - which I'm not. I'm not tall either, I'm average. I don't know how it works, but it seems like to get that look you have to be tall.
A tailored coat would be in order (not something you'd do for casual use)
Very buff guys get a similar problem, standard issue suits makes them look fat.

Not familiar with Pale Rider, but a lot of actors are shorter than average (maybe just lead actors. So their head is comparatively bigger)

Oh, I'd highly recommend a watch, it's one of Clint Eastwood's best westerns (along with High Plains Drifter), if you're into that sort of thing. Reportedly though, Clint Eastwood was 6'4" in his heyday, and John Russell, who played the main villain, was 6'3 1/2". Here's a picture of him in the movie with his deputies, with the long dusters.

I can’t believe being tall is such a social advantage. I’m 6’4, but I think it’s unfair that you get the unspoken good first impression based on that.
It's bigger than you think. It is of upmost importance.

You don't know because you are tall. If you were under 6'0 you wouldn't say that.
