"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Lately I've been realizing an issue I have when it comes to women: a lack of common interest between me and them.

I'm 19, but I have a wide variety of interests. I'm trying to become financially free by the next decade and hence am heavily interested in small businesses, investments, etc.

I'm also very confident. Not arrogant, but confident. Despite being young, I've experienced more than a lot of people and consider myself fairly "worldly."

When talking to women in my age range, however, they just don't "get it." Most are still stuck in this young paradigm and seem to lack the understanding of things I'm passionate about. In addition, most can't seem to rationalize and analyze topics from different viewpoints. If an interesting controversial topic was to come up, they can't seem to move out of their own box of ideas.

Sure I can socialize with them and make small talk, but I seldom have meaningful conversations with them...meaningful in the sense that we're discussing subjects relative to the bigger picture of life...finance, world issues, religion, philosophy, relationships, etc.

On the other hand, I've spoken to quite a few older women and they definately seem to understand better where I'm coming from. They understand my passions and motivations in life because they themselves have experienced things or on that route themselves.

They also seem to much more grasp the idea of "confidence." It seems like they are definately attracted to that more than their younger counterparts, who at many times seem so damn insecure about themselves that it almost intimidates them.

Anyway, I'm wondering if any other guys have felt this way and how they're reacted with the situation...whether it be going for older women, being content with small talk, or going to the Leykis way and just accepting that women just won't ever really "get it" so why even bother?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I'm an older DJ. Women don't change a lot. They will usually shun greater world topics. They won't talk about politics, or even the environment that much. They like travel, though. They won't be into finance, but will leave that responsibility to the guy.. it shocks them when the guy then says "it's my money". They'll stick to womans world things, relationships, what to wear, their feelings, etc.

Most gals serve their own interests, even in a relationship. But to be fair, most guys do too. However, when you do find a gal that honestly cares about you, stick around her, even if it is on a friendship basis.. that is if she cares, and isn't playing games. They do have a good sense of compassion and empathy, when they decide to use it.

As for your small talk comments.. try moving beyond the small talk to dabble in their topics. Once you make a connection on a personal level, they will move on to understand your topics too. Men are to lead, and we lead by example. You want them to relate to you.. OK, you first relate to them. However, you remain an alpha by not allowing them to stay stuck on themselves.

I'm an economics major at a good university, and less than 5% of the econ majors are women. Go figure.

You can talk about politics in a way that it is interesting even to women. Look at Jon Stewart. He talks about politics in a very human, comedic way, as opposed to an analytical serious way. If you REALLY have the skills, you can pull this off too with women. Then you're in the money :).
