OK, you're out driving somewhere with your girl. You're having some light, perhaps mundane conversation( important to her), and a good or really good tune comes on the radio. Naturally, you reach for the volume knob and crank the sumb!tch up, with the primary satisfaction of appreciating a really good tune and drowning out the drivel coming from her mouth. If she minimizes my desire to listen to the tune by continuing to prattle on , or heaven forbid reach for the volume knob, I'll give her a gentle shushing that usually shuts her up.
I guess this technique can be used as a training tool among others to let them know that they are not necessarily the center of YOUR universe. In my experience, it usually frustrates them mildly for a little while, but teaches them that they aren't always # 1.
