"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Should this set off alarm bells?

Man I hate asking afc sounding questions but sometimes a different perspective is good. Arrived in Boston last Saturday. (First time in States, over here legally to work) Was out on Saturday night and got the number of a HB8. She wrote it on a napkin which was cute.

Anyways I rang her there on Monday night to set up a coffee date for Wednesday. The call was kind of messy as she wanted to meet up closer to where she lives. She doesn't know downtown Boston too well. Atm I have a lousy commute which involves getting up at 5:30AM so I can't stay out late (feels like school :( ) She suggested instead going for drinks on Friday (good:) ) So I asked her to reccommend a bar. I don't know anything about Boston yet. She said some bar called Om that she described as REALLY fancy.

This is the bit about alarm bells. She is a student and from my student days, fancy bars were generally too expensive. Would you take this as a sign of gold-digging?

I'd take it as a sign of her dislike for shithole bars.

You got her number.

Suggested a coffee date, no go.

She countered.

Go out Friday night.

Come home Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for the advice. That would actually fit in with my impression of her. She was very well spoken so maybe wants to go to more classy joints.

How the hell does a upper-class bar set off alarm bells? Sheesh, everyone over-analyzes this stuff, just go with the flow.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

This is what happens when you don't lead.

You're the man, it's your job to lead, to pick out the time, the date and the place.

Ah yes the memories, OM bar, at 52 Temple place. It's actually located in Mantra (easy to miss, it's on the left coming from Tremont st). Upper bar is kind of nice, they make a good martini. Downstairs is a converted Bank Vault, sucks to move around in, too crowded. Too bad you can't smoke a hookah in their hookah den.

Ok grasshopper, you are in luck. I am Mr. Freaking Tourguide when it comes to Boston nightlife. Don't want to take her to OM? No prob, the Theatre District is right nextdoor. Take her to Rock Bottom, about two blocks from there. Or Club Rumor or Venu (the owner is a friend of mine... he runs a nice place). Or the Roxy. If you want to down grade you can go to the Alley located on Boylston st. where you can find The Liquor Store and ride the mechanical bull, or go to the Big Easy (known by locals as the Big Cheesy or Big Sleazy). Want to upgrade? Go to Whiskey Park in the Park Plaza hotel next to the Four Seasons. All of these are within spitting distance of each other, maybe a 5-10 min. walk.

Ok now to address the real concern you have. I don't particularily view OM as a "REALLY" fancy place like your new friend does (I prefer the bar at the old Ritz-Carlton or the Bristol Lounge). What is important however is... that SHE views it as fancy. I'm kinda hedging that this MAY be a s#it test. However I'll go with my gut and say I don't think you have anything to worry about. Remember she said she didn't know Boston too well. The OM bar may be the only halfway decent bar she even knows. Just relax and work your magic.

Also if you have any questions about Boston and the best places to hang just ask. There's a lair here too, you might want to join, there are a few guys who regularly sarge that you might want to hook up with.

Thanks slowburn, I might take you up on that offer :D The place I was in last week, (hong Kong) seemed nice enough. Still getting used to the city. Its gonna take a few weeks. Is Cambridge/Harvard the main social part of Boston. Living downtown atm and there doesn't seem all that much about.
