Should I skip workout today - no whey protein!

Hey all, unfortunately the local store which I get my protein in is having a stock take day today which means I missed out on getting whey for today at least.

I think that if I workout without a post workout shake (or two!) it will do me more harm than good (ive no backup for this, just a guess really!).

I feel really bad thinking that Im gonna miss todays workout (WED: BICEP/BACK DAY) so maybe ill move my bicep back day to friday (usually leg day) as my legs are quite a bit bigger in ratio to the rest of my body! What do you guys think?

Also, I havent taken a week off workoing out for approx. 4 months now.

So, would it be ok to miss todays workout, or just workout without a shake after?

PS - I also dont have much protein rich food stocked up in the fridge today so thats another reason i may miss this workout...

no need to miss your workout. just try to get as much protein as possible, but don't sweat it.

it's no biggie.

it's more important to get glucose into your body after workout. the body has always some amino acids stored in his system(at least with bodybuilding lifestyle) so dont worry about it. to create muscle the body needs only a small amount of amino acids.

a whole different thing is that you are working out since 4months non stop. imo your doing something wrong probably. personally i would never be able to workout 4months non stop because my body feels totally burned out and damaged after a while. dont ignore what your body tells you, i know it hurts to take time off the gym. but you will do much better fully recovered. or maybe i have just bad genetics, dont know.


btw why arent you posting in your journal anymore? give us an update dude:)

hey double,

i never seem to tire, maybe i am doing stuff wrong but i dont think so...

I think i will take today off, just today tho! :) have a slight break.

I dont feel like working my ass off and then not getting enough nutrition as that, to me, is a waste of time - and... ive just been told on bodybuilding.com that if i dont have ample pre and post protein intakes it could lead to catabolism,

i will start a new CUTTING thread soon double, thanks for the interest - back to SERIOUS bulking after i come home from hols in early sept (a week in gran canaria!)

Just eat some real food, you know like guys did before whey was around.

On the other hand if you are very tired take a day off, it's always wise, so long as you are not kidding yourself and getting lazy.

Eat some cottage cheese or drink one liter of milk.. or you could eat 10g of bcaa and couple of apples.. thats a bomb after a training!

I am so tired or people acting like if you dont have practically 900g of protein pre and post workout that you will lose muscle and that you will turn catabolic. People saying that if you workout the same muscle twice in 4 days that suddenly about 20 pounds of muscle will fall off and you till overtrain and die in a puddle.

Ok of course i am exaggerating, but why does everything have to be so scientific, I mean your body will adapt to almost whatever you do.

When I was in season for weightlifting at my high school, and I warn you I know better about dieting now, but let me just show you how hard it is to really overtrain.

I was going heavy(1-3 reps) or medium (3-5) for at least 5 sets of 3 machines, bout 2 hour workout, and i was having about 900 calories sometimes less, about 700 of it for dinner, no protein shakes, and no creatine, I did this straight for about 2 months.

In those 2 months I lost about 17 pounds, and I put 40 pounds on my bench, and 40 pounds on my clean and jerk.

NO PROTEIN SHAKES, I probabaly consumed about 80 grams of protein a day, and I weighed 235 at the time. So Trust me just work out and stop being so damn worried about not getting exact nutrient amounts. BB.com is way, and I mean way to precise. I mean guys on there give you like 47 tips, which all together might burn like 100-200 calories more a day, which you could do by just running like a half mile at a good pace.

So just work hard and dont worry about it so much, supplements are only what they are called supplements, they supplement your workout, they dont take it over.

crack 3-5 eggs in 8 oz of milk and blend it up... insta-protein shake man.

Excellent suggestion (if you're happy with raw eggs, don't have any qualms myself) - but not for PWO since the casein/fat combo will slow down protein absorption when you need it the most.

And no, going for a day without whey won't make you waste away!

in regard to raw eggs: isnt there a chance of getting salmonella off eating them raw?

back in action tomorrow, gonna do my bicep back day, the one i missed out on yesterday, and am gonna leave legs for this week. gonna hit em hard next week tho! :)

Very low, and even lower if you use common sense, and don't crack bad smelling eggs in there.

Seriously tho, how many times have you had a stomach ache in your life.... ever thought that one of those times could be a mild case of food poisoning?

Eggs are fine... just not PWO ;) (too much fat) heh

A figure I read somewhere was that it was a 1 in 30,000 chance?

Cook them.

Takes 2 min (pre heated) and tastes much better. Just dont go nuts with eggs.

Apparently, I eat WAYYY too much lol...... 6 a day easy.
