"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I have been very close friends with this girl since high school. Actually in high school we were merely friends. Since we have graduated we began to grow closer and closer, to the point where we can tell each other anything and everything. When she goes to school during the year we talk almost every day and haven't gone more than 3 days without making contact with one another. When ever she does come home from school I am usually the first one to know and to see her. When we do get together we usually cuddle together and watch a movie or talk about past times and experiences. Our mutual friends know how I feel about her but give me little to no advice on what to do as they are stumped as well. They do however say to me (this started as a joke, but has sort of progressed since they found out how I truly feel about her) that two of us are perfect for one another and that we should end up together in the end. When the two of us go out in public we are constantly being pegged as a couple because of the way that we bicker and talk (usually like an old married couple). And the two of us have determined that we are way more than friends and that is where the convo usually stops. On countless occasions she has told me that I am her "best guy friend" and she cares for me and doesn’t want to see anything bad ever happen to me. This became apparent to me the night she found out I smoked and she cried for over two hours because she was afraid that I was going to die (I have since quit because she made me). We have everything in common, the same tastes. Her parents have even mentioned to me that we would make a cute couple (my mother has fallen in love with this girl as well) and have tried to push me to ask her out a few times.

That all being said I don't know what to do. On one hand I care for her more than anything else in the world. On the other hand I have a great friend that I know will go out of her way to help through anything I need (and vise versa). I would like our relationship to progress beyond its current status, but I do not want to ruin what we currently have. I have gone out with a few girls since I started having these feelings towards her but they just don't do it for me. This girl has everything I have been looking for but I am stuck in friend stage with her and I don't know how to escape or make a break for it without hurting feelings and possibly ending the friendship. What do I do and how do I do it?

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.
