Studies have shown men flourish with a combo of didactic lectures and hands on problem solving. Actually seeing the problem and figuring a work around ingrains info long term.

Most people are easy at didactic teachings and memorizing information. Most information with this major ive learned in the field and applied it before. So I have to relearn it book style, then forget it agsin when you have to problem solve on the fly in the field.
