Should I do it?

I saved up some money (3 months worth of work) and I'm thinking of spending 2/3 of it to buy a new bicycle.
Is it wise to do it in the current context?

On one side I've always wished for such a machinery and it's one of my biggest passions (or at least it used to be; my interest has somewhat faded in the last months, probably due to inactivity). On the other side, it's hard to pull the trigger on such an expense + the times are not what they used to be.

What do you think?

Funny thing is just prior to my buy I saw a brand new K2 (forgot the make) on eBay.
Point is look around.

You need an aluminum frame, metal if you want an everyday road bike for the city. Tripple front, and 9 speed rear (chain is thicker). Right off the hand, you could switch front brake to right hand, since rear brakes are not used on bikes, rear lifts up when you brake, and it's much better to brake with a right hand. Upgrade front brakes. Install Michelin PRO4 tires, and a good seat.

After 1 year of exploitation of my motobecane vent noir I had to replace brake cables/hoses, since they cracked on the sun. I also dropped that thing so I bought a new rear derailer, Shimano MT, reverse cage, 10 speed, and used it with 9 speed chain.


What's really needed here is to give you link to a guy, who died, he's really good with bikes. I just forgot his name. He has tons of guides, including one on how to use 10 speed derailer on 9 speed bike, wheel building, etc.

Now I realize the question was should I do it. Well not for your primary transportation. You should have a car, onto which you could load your bike.

I would go for it if I were you! Everybody should spend their money on whatever it is that makes them happy! I one invested a lot in my furniture. I've got one hell of a crib now! Don't regret it at all! :rock:
