You disturbing the peace man, it can get you in trouble from the police and the landlord. You making trouble for your landlord, and you bothering the police. Do it, I bet it will turn out the opposite of what you want, your dog neighbor will get rid of you, instead of you getting rid of him.

Can you cite a statute which give you this right? I think not. But I know for sure there is a statute which permits your neighbor to make noise from certain time in the morning until certain time in the evening. Read your contract with landlord carefully, look up city's laws.

The most liable solution is to feed his dog a peace of meat full of rat poison.

...and he like a good neighbor will talk to his dog, man to man! Soulforge wants the guy out, which is not happening, guy has contract with landlord, and landlord can not kick him out yet, he just got there. Guy won't get rid of his dog, he loves it with all his heart. Solution is to kill the dog.
Getting rid of a dog, gets you prison time man.. Thats no answer.

I think he is able to make a noise between 7am and 11PM..

However if the noise is causing serious disruption to neighbours and making living in your own home impossible, then the authorities can intervene.

Your landlord is a fvcking assh0le for letting such a tenant to move in. He might have paid him a lot more money because of his dog. Landlord might not like your ass and want you gone, maybe even landlord doesn't like your ass and those elderly people with cancer both of you at the same time. Maybe he did not think that a dog can cause such problems. If you can't get rid of the dog, and you can't get your landlord to move you, and you can't get your landlord to move him or get rid of him, then you have to move out. Complaints to police won't do sh1t but agitate your landlord, because police will speak to your landlord. You can also modify your lifestyle if you want, use ear plugs, play television loud but not too loud so nobody complains on you, wait a month see what happens.

Did you read your contract though? What does it say?

Perhaps introduce him to some heavy metal...do you play guitar by chance?
I did this to an old ****head neighbor once. Used to play his classical music loud every Sunday night, all night. I couldn't sleep.
So I opened my window, set my old 100W Alamo tube amp up in the sill, hooked up my distortion and delay pedals to my Aria Pro II Guitar, cranked everything and started playing a radical whammy bar laden version of Ride the Lightening lmao. He looked over at me, I turned it down and shugged. my shoulders at him, then shut it off.
He got the message.

I don't think the landlord realised what situation he has created by letting this idiot in.

I spoke to the landlord.. he even suggested killing the dog lol or keep complaining to the authorities till he gives up and moves out.

The landlord seems to be on my side, but claims his hands are tied due to him having a contract.

I am willing to put up with this if this idiot has only a 6 month contract... but if he has a 1 year contract, then this could be a big problem.

Hey, welcome to the **** show that is the western world. Get used to it.

You could have made this easier if you mentioned what race he was.

My guess is the dog starts to bark once the owner has left for work. It's anxiety. Prozac can help that (for the dog)

I can't believe gog owners renters contract doesn't have some sort of "keep the peace" clause. Does your building have by-laws on paper? Homeowner rules that everyone has to abide by? I'm betting there's something about peaceful enjoyment in those documents. You would have received a copy of these documents when you purchased the unit and can probably get a copy from building management or the homeowners committee.

Try that.

If push comes to shove you can always use an insanity defense (the barking drove me mad) if anything goes down :D

Volunteer to take the pup for a walk and play time. He just wants attention. You aren't sleeping anyway! No? How about a good set of ear buds or muffs. Problem solved. You can thank me later.

I wear a sleep mask sometimes, but I've never been a fan of ear plugs. How am I going to hear my alarm? What if somebody tries to break in?

Side rant.

Yeah, I know, but I figured I would try to provide a short term suggestion/solution

I sleep all day a lot, due to working nights. I always have a fan on to block out outside noises (traffic, dogs, chainsaws). There are also phone apps that you can download that make noises. I use White Noise.

Already got some solid ear plugs.. Spoke to the landlord of the property today.

Good and bad news...

Bad news.. He can't do anything about it, other than talk to him.. He cannot evict him!

Good news.. His contract is only for 6 months and the Landlord has assured me, he will NOT be extending the contract due to the trouble this tenant is causing me, and another neighbour who is elderly and very ill..

This moron is 2 months already into his tenancy, so another 4 months of putting up with this CRAP.

His dog is so damn loud.. These 4 weeks will be stressful as hell, as this dog barks, howls non stop 4 or 5 hours...

The local authority has also been informed of this.. The elderly neighbours who have cancer have also lodged a complaint with local authority and complained to the Landlord.. Two complaints are better than one!

What is frustrating is.. I could have this dude packing his bags, and leaving in days, if I really wanted to... But I have to do everything above board I suppose lol

I'm getting the feeling most people on here, are opting to have the dog assassinated lol

This my exact problem.. I won't hear my alarm go off for work, if sleeping with plugs!

He could if he had a signed professional level rental contract…
They usually have a nuisance clause.

I wouldn't see the barking as a problem unless I was trying to sleep or read. For the sleep, look at my last post; for the reading, use ear plugs.

I had a few horrible roommates when I was younger. I feel your pain.
