"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Dear July Baby,
The Noblest Roman of them All,Wow you find Australia interesting....Let me tell you The Mid West....All that Corn and Square dancing in the Evenings,Sounds so Romantic to me....I was So lucky in my Youth I was invalided out of being a Patrol Officer in New Guinea,Dengue Fever and Malaria,Which I still Suffer from....I was given a Cadetship in the Northern Territory....It was really Wild then and a few of the Crocodile Dundees that you seem to admire were still around...We thought of them as Hell West and Crooked....They were mean Mothers...Talking of Mothers, few of them had Known a Mothers Love...With more Dinner Times than Dinners they had led a rather deprived family life....Life was a mean business the only Women they Knew were Blacks,a furtive scuffle out of the campfires sight their closest experience of romance...Work was in the dry season pursuing Buffalos across the flood plains in a Land-Rover with a scoop in the front....They would charge these poor creatures head on,knock their feet from under them, then jump out and shoot the shocked animal in the spine, with a .310 Martini rifle, dump him and move on as the poor bvgger suffered in the heat, the Black skinners would at leisure follow and finish the poor svod off...In the Wet season it was the turn of the crocodile, not much sympathy with them, but that was a dangerous game indeed....You would probably like to meet these guys, but sure as Christ they don't want to meet you.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Not really, but I know that I'll want a companion when I get on in years. Having a woman around helping you when you're ill is a wonderful thing to have. That sort of motherly instinct is sadly not present in many of today's women. You'll likely have an easier time with it since women who are older than me seem to be more feminine and nurturing than today's "I'm a bytch, proud of it, and I don't give a fukk" women.

Dear Desdinova,
"but I know that I'll want a companion when I get on in years. Having a woman around helping you when you're ill is a wonderful thing to have"...This alone confirms my prognosis that you do indeed know life....We all get Old....I am probably one of the few on this Site who has experienced true debility....last year I had two Hip joints replaced....I prepared by exercising my legs, reducing weight and using my Engineering skills to make a pulley contraption over my bed so I could get in and out and onto my crutches, without assistance..a small bar fridge an electric jug and forty or so interesting books from Amazon.....My Wilderness was Paradise enough....After the operation Three plates and nary a sign of any of them...My salvation two beautiful Daughters..Yep when the chips are down you need Family....Daughter number two, came every day....Familial love, duty, love and loyalty?....Perhaps but solid assurances that she inherits a million bucks of real Estate are the clincher ....also the knowledge that if she upsets me she is out in the cold...people are mainly motivated by self interest...Only the selfish grow really Old.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Scar keep fighting the good fight. And don't change a thing about you.

If you are ever in California, or I am ever Down Under, lets have a beer or 3.
