I just got home from an all-night event with the girl I've been seeing (bus tour of city spots) and have almost no brain energy left. I got this question via e-mail (must have been as soon as she got home).

I actually like her more the more we hang out, but I'd like something mildly funny to say in response. Anyone who's sharper than I am right now have a good response?

But I don't have any witty responses on hand right now, either.

I'd tell her I'm surprised to hear from her so soon. I don't think you can go wrong with confidently saying you like her more, without drivelling on about it. Just toss it off, and devote the rest of the email to discussion of some of the highlights of the evening.

When I didn't respond for many hours, she had sent another message saying please disregard the first request since her exhaustion-induced paranoia had subsided.

I decided to respond with the following, which got an excited reaction; felt it was appropriate since I am usually very dry and teasing with her.


"I would say that after a pretty big meal, interestingly, I seem to keep having room for just a little more"

Umbra - I thought the comment would be adequately nice to her while still noting that it was possible to get sick of each other.

She's just about to start that thing where she wants to spend every minute together -- I practically had to pull her out of my place last week at 2 am. Good lord, the things she was saying....

Somewhat unsurprisingly, I prefer to look at it as her final submission to my greater powers. She fought hard, and hopefully still will, but in the end knew who comes out on top.
