I keep mine between 1/8th and 1/4 an inch usually. The only time in my life when I didnt trim at all was when I was a virgin.

Iv tried shaving smooth, didnt like it, looks weird to me when my legs and the rest of my body is still hairy. Not to mention feels weird.

Oh and a girl staying clean shaven is a must for me.

Right after it came off my adrenaline was going through the roof. Don't really remember much of that. A few hours later I couldn't keep my hand off of that part of my body.
