Basically I met this girl with a few of my friends today and she immediately was attracted to me, I took charge of the situation, I suggested fun places for us to hang out and I did not hesitate to strike up a conversation with her. Even though I'm a Senior, I found out she was interested in nursing school. I did everything right, I didn't give her too much attention and didn't seem to mind when she flirted with other people. It ended up paying off and she would naturally stand/sit next to me and we continued to make small talk. Eventually she had to leave and told us she could hang out the next day.

The next day comes and I'm not sure whether it was from the complete lack of sleep or not (I got three hours the night before) but I went to being pretty insecure. I decided I liked since she left and I wanted to impress her and as I kept thinking about her as my day went on, I slowly found myself becoming more and more worried that she might reject me. Anyway, we all hung out again and I pretty much obliterated whatever spark happened. My attempts to tease her and make fun of her ended up being awkward as she didn't go along with it and I made myself out to be a total d-bag. I found myself seeking her attention and seeking her out to talk to her because I was insecure she was interested in one of my friends instead or wouldn't like me (as opposed to me talking to her out of coincidence or leading my own path the day before). Sure I could make small talk, but somehow I'd freeze up and run out of things to talk about.

A huge, huge, huge problem I had is that its hard for me to maintain eye contact with a girl for extended periods of more than a few seconds. How can I fix this? Also, talking too fast and not really thinking about things before I said them sort of screwed up my chances with this girl. I just find it so odd how one day I feel ontop of the world and in complete control and shes eating out of the palm of my hand to now I'm groveling for her attention. Is there any advice you guys can give on any of the problems I talked about (preferably all of them)?

This is called the scarcity mentality. You found a girl who seems to like you. It doesn't happen to you very often. She's very valuable to you, too valuable in fact, as you are very afraid of losing her. As a result, you are acting insecure and needy and not natural.

The only way to fix this is to create avenues for yourself to meet new women constantly, so that you become less and less concerned that you might scare that one girl away. Because you'll likely meet someone just as attractive very soon even if you do fvck up and lose a girl you like.

PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE!
From now on, make eye contact with everybody, not just girls, that comes within 25' of you. Hold eye contact until they look away.
