"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Alright, so brief introduction. I'm currently a junior in high school, and recently I met this really cute mixed girl. I started talking to her early January after she got out of an LTR. We hit it off and in the first week, I asked her out to grab bubble tea and she came over. I felt some chemistry, and she would touch me lightly. She was really impressed by my affinity with music and would suggest other times we could hang out. It continued to escalate between us, with increasingly flirty encounters and lots of banter. I began to really like this girl. But all of a sudden, she began to act distant and stopped talking to me with that same high level of interest as before. Over the weekend, during our acting rehearsals, she was still quite touchy but seemed to resist my advances slightly more. I found out today, during another rehearsal that she was seeing someone in her own grade. Suddenly, it made sense. I was crushed for a moment, but it passed. However, when he left, she walked by where I was sitting, and essentially stroked my cheek, brushing her fingertips against my lips. I was left completely confused, but slightly amused at the same time.

Anyways, I am going to move on, but I want to ask all my brothers on this thread for your opinions. Should I just immediately sever all ties with her, or should I ask her about her relationship before moving on?

Thanks DJ's

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

From your story it sounds like the chick was being flirty with you to see if you liked her while she waited for the dude she really decided she wanted to start seeing. And if you started talking to her fresh out of an LTR she was most likely insecure and looking for attention and didn't know WTF she wanted so she was cool with you but not attracted enough to you to go further as in a relationship and kept it flirty, cool, talkative etc.

At this point it doesn't really matter as the chick is seeing some dude in her grade. Find another chick and don't worry about her flirty attention seeking nonsense. Nip it in the bud and tell her she's seeing someone now and would she appreciate it if he was flirting with other chicks. Chick is still insecure and immature. She's not sure if the dude she's seeing will work out so she'll play the game to string you along. You might be worried reality will slap you across the face if you nip it in the bud and she leaves you alone.

Better to find someone else before you get too far into this fantasy of thinking something may eventually pan out with you and her. Even IF it did in the future the chick was flirting with you and then went on to see some other dude and she'd wind up doing it again.

You presented that long wall of text and tell the court that the princess is in another castle?

I'll point you in the right way.

You know that she's seeing someone else. Let it go. Cut your losses. Move on. All that fluff she's doing is her trying to get you to be her attention providing/ ego stroking orbiter.

Case closed.
