"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Stop.

Right now, for a moment, think about who you are.

Consider your age.

Now take that age, take that period of time and look at yourself. Are you happy that it took that amount of time to create what you’re looking at right now?

Are you as successful as you want to be, in all the areas in which you feel the need to be successful?

Consider your successes and lay them out over the period of time that is your life. Are they still significant? Look at how much has changed or happened in this world over that same period of time. Are they still significant?

What are your goals in life? What do you want to be? What difference do you want to make? Think about the big things, but don’t leave out the smaller things.

Does having achieved a goal in the past make you satisfied? Happy?
Does reflecting on the moment of achieving that goal do that?
Or do you think that the moment itself does that, to the furthest extent?

Not reflecting and mentally masturbating upon petty past victories. But reflecting to spot the flaws - no matter how small they might be - or the opportunities, the strong points and the method you used. Consider it. Then stop reflecting.

Now take your achieved goals and make them bigger. You can do better. Way better. Whether you believe it or not; you know that it’s true. 98% of all the people out there (or maybe even 99%) NEVER live up to their potential. Are you going to be one of those people?

Probably, unless you decide to act. Set goals. The decision to take more action can be a goal itself. Doing ten push-ups every day can be a goal – even though your final goal might be to enable yourself to lift a car of the ground.

A problem some people have is that when they hear the word ‘goals’, they think of something very complicated. I thought I never used to set goals. Now I’m setting goals all the time. What’s changed? Mainly my perception.

A trip to the supermarket is a goal. The dishes; goal. Finishing your homework before a certain time; goal. Anything that requires self-discipline is a goal to me. The great thing about doing tasks that take self-discipline, is that they also boost your self-discipline. If you don’t do them however, you’ll lose some self-discipline. Easy choice, huh?

Start setting goals now.

Every day, every hour, every minute, every second, is the first second, minute, hour or day of the rest of your life. Carpe diem. Live your life today.

One word of advice to help you on the way: self-pity is your enemy. There are opportunities everywhere. Never feel sorry for yourself! If you notice that you’re doing it; you’re not on the right track. Stop it immediately and start working harder. Keep building that self-discipline up.
