I happened to be on the main page, and read Mr. Thompson's article "The Secret Power of Great Shoes".

I'm sure we would all agree women are obsessed with shoes, for whatever reason. In fact, now that I think about it, I bet I have received more compliments about my shoes than any other article of clothing. Usually just a simple "I like your shoes". I guess the article begs the question: What is a great shoe?

I don't claim to be an expert, although I will say I know what appeals to me visually, and I usually try to wear shoes that are new or still look new, or at the very least clean. And I also try to match the shoes with what I'm wearing whenever I can.

I agree. It goes hand in hand with "taking care" of yourself. I don't think you can go outside in dirty white sneakers or worn-out Timberlands/Dr. Martens and give the impression that your time management, finances, and other aspects of your life are in order.

Wardrobe in general is very important. Shoes are part of that but if you wear nice shoes and dress like garbage otherwise it won't matter.
