My friend has told me that when he gets bored of his current vapid girlfriend, he puts an ad up on Craigslist looking for sex. He tells me that it actually works surprisingly well, and attracts some fairly decent looking girls - not supermodels, but your plain-jane girl next door types.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I think its a little sketchy.

Yeah, Ive used Craigslist a number of times---even recently. I have met some good, dateable girls through this, but Ive found that only 1 in every 10 repliers is worth a date. To me anyway. Dont post one in the sex-only section--it's no good. Just the dating section.

Your friend is correct--you arent going to meet 8-10's on Craigslist, for obvious reasons. But you can consistently meet cute girls; 6's and 7's, and you know they are interested.

There a few advantages to this:

-It's free and relatively anonymous
-Tons of people use it, especially in the city
-It's a great way to add cute, interested women to your dating roster. Just dont let your meeting of women in other places fall by the wayside.

What are some good things in the add that you can put in it that will make a woman interested? How can one stand out from the hundreds of other guys posting ads?

Also what section should the ads be placed in?

Write a better ad. I've consistently got 5-6's out of CL. You need to write an ad that catches their attention, though. Also, have a good pic. I've lost some good ones that were interested when they see my pic.

That's what I've noticed, too. It makes you not want to talk to anybody on there.

I read the "Missed Connections" from time to time. Has anyone ever had any luck with those? Have any chicks you know of reached out to you on that?

Haha of course this works - there are always slutty girls out there looking for no-strings attached sex

Now whether you want these low quality girls is a different story

I've had no luck but I've only placed one ad, and it was recent, and I responded to a few which ended up being sex schemes for websites. I live in a small metro area, so I'm sure it's 10x worse in places like Chicago and Dallas

It works in metro area. B/c the spammers put the same # of ads on each locale, but this means in populous areas there are relatively fewer spam ads. You just have to learn to tell real from fake, which isn't that hard. Real rarely have pics, for example.

But the key is to write your own ad -- you won't get responded to by spam. Also, put it in women for men or platonic. Those girls are just as eager, but naturally don't want to look like sluts.

"Missed Connections" is the province of the AFC. If you're a DJ you won't miss a connection. Haven't you ever read those and thought "how pathetic..."? (Though they are entertaining.)

Since when is a DJ all-powerful and can see and know everything around him? Maybe a girl sees you somewhere out in public but you never notice her. That's what it looks like they're doing when they make those types of posts.

Craigslist does work for getting no strings attached sex. Good looking people get horny too and occasionally want the late nite hookup. It takes mostly luck and the patience to trade many pointless messages and the sometimes gross pictures people send (fatties). Also there are picture collectors who will keep asking for more pictures and more details - game players who just want to get masterbation material w/ no intention of meeting up, or maybe they are guys under an alias. But if you are in a decent-sized city it's worth trying once in awhile, just for fun, to see what ya get. It helps if you promote or look for a particular kink/fetish/specialty etc. IMO.

Oh yeah "missed connections" is one of the most pointless things ever, only good for a quick embarassing read that leaves you shaking your head.....

Would you guys send your picture to someone on Craigslist? I live in a small town and its possible that, like MaddXMan suggested, someone could be faking who they are. This would be so embarassing to me. I just put an ad on there for women to contact me and I am scared if they ask for my picture because I am NOT sending it. My town is too small to take the risk although I do want some "no strings attached" action if I can...

^^^ You have to send your picture, there's no way around it. At least get her picture first.

I've done the craigslist thing before, and it's like shooting fish in a barrel. Every ad on there is some chump who has no idea how to write or how to convey personality. They just put up three or four lines that say,

"Hey, I'm a fun loving, nice guy who loves sports. GO PATS!!! I've never really done anything like this before, but it's just so hard to meet a good woman these days lol!!! So I don't really know what I'm suppoed to put here, but I do like to treat my woman right. I just want a good woman who wants to be good to her man. So if you think you might be into that, shoot me a line or something."

I'm serious, go look at your local craigslist. It's nothing but thirty variations of that every day. The guys have no idea how to convey anything about their personalities through writing. If you reread the few lines I just wrote, you'll notice I didn't say ANYTHING in it. And that's what most of these guys do. They list a few vague, general personality traits that are in no way unique or even descriptive of their personality (for instance, saying you're fun loving isn't saying anything, because everyone loves fun. Have you ever met a fun hating person?)

They don't say anything about themselves, and they don't say anything about the type of girl they want to meet. If you have half a brain you can easily write a much better ad than these guys. And if you have the best ad, you'll get the most responses.

When I've posted in the past I just write a lot about myself in ways that convey my personality. She wants to read and get an idea of who you are, and what you're looking for. The next day I check my e-mail and there's about 10 girls talking about how they "never respond to these things, but you just seem so funny and sweet and honest, well I figured I'd give it a shot."

It's great for if you want to get some practice in, or if you just haven't been laid in a good minute and need to get some. These girls tend to be on the desperate side. Craigslist is the only online thing I've ever done, and I picked it mainly because it really plays off of how competetive girls are amongst one another. You can ask them to qualify for you, and they will.

I thought this thread was about using craigslist for hookup sex not as a dating site......it only worked for me once and it was damn good, but I attribute that to pure luck of the draw. I got lucky.
