San Francisco’s New DA: Public Urination ‘Will Not Be Prosecuted’

“We will not prosecute cases involving quality-of-life crimes. Crimes such as public camping, offering or soliciting sex, public urination, blocking a sidewalk, etc., should not and will not be prosecuted,” Boudin vowed in response to an American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) questionnaire during the campaign.

“Many of these crimes are still being prosecuted, we have a long way to go to decriminalize poverty and homelessness,” he lamented.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone being prosecuted for public urination. Usually if some guy urinates in public, they go after him for exposure.

I had a friend who was once. While in the cop car he later saw another friend getting arrested for something else, was good for a laugh.

There are some cities in the U.S. where getting busted for public urination = sex offender status. I would rather have no prosecution than have some poor bloke get put on a list for life for taking a leak.

This is why they fail. They're too busy trying to paint homeless people as oppressed victims to focus on the fact that these people are living in the street because they've fried their brains with fentanyl-laced heroin and are now completely useless, and they're enabling it to boot with free syringes.

San Francisco has a lot more homeless people than they do jail cells. There is no way to lock them up even if they wanted to.

Yeah I think the sex offender laws are definitely broken in this regard.

That would depend on who/why they were there.

1. Foreigners get deported.
2. Mentally ill go into Institutions.
3. People with addictions get sent to rehab clinics.
4. Remainder would likely be a case by case basis.

Those would not be socialism.

Homeless people who refuse to work would be a socialist issue.

Or chronic druggies, who should be placed into something similar to an institution where they would no longer be a danger to society.

In fact BOTH of those mentioned above are to keep dangers out of society. FAR different than people who refuse to work.
