The first James Bond movie I ever saw was with my father, now 40 years ago.

Roger Moore was 49 at the time The Spy Who Loved Me was released in July 1977. He was the man.

He was my favorite James Bond, and one of the great male role models of all time, and had a way of working humor and class into the mix in a way that was unparalleled.

Also, this movie intro is second to none - Albert Broccoli was a genius of entertainment. I never saw sexier women. Throw in the hottest Bond girl Barbara Bach (who was in Playboy magazine that year and married to Ringo Starr) Carly Simon at her best and this was one of the greatest moments of 1970's cinema.

Rest in peace, Roger.

RIP to the great actor, I think he has the records for the most bond films.

FWIW Sean Connery is the best bond for me :p

I think most of us like the first Bond we saw the best.

That scene is from the Spy Who Loved Me. Definitely the most exciting scene in any James Bond movie.

Also, minus those loafers, I dress almost exactly like he is dressed here.

Note that Patrick McGoohan (my profile picture, aka Secret Agent Man) was originally chosen to be the new James Bond circa 1968 but he chose to produce The Prisoner instead. Secret Agent Man was a morally superior version of James Bond. Married in real life, he never kissed a girl on screen or used a gun as Danger Man.

I can remember going, right before hitting puberty, to see "The Spy Who Loved Me" and seeing that silhouetted nekkid gal in the opening credits use 007's pistol like a gymnast's bar. It's a good thing that 007 franchise had Connery & Moore to start, as they both did an excellent job; Brosnan also did a good job, but by then femynism had made 007 a dinosaur.

Agree both of these actors had great class. And the films were all about the James Bond character. The plots were normally ridiculous.

The villains had great IDGAF as well. They always had beautiful girls that's they just treated as entertainment and would dismiss with a wave of the hand.

What do you guys think of the Daniel Craig reboot of the franchise?
