Hey guys. I am 23, 5'8" and weigh around 135 right now. I want to start lifting, but I am unsure what workout routine to begin. I am not a total beginner. I lifted pretty hard about 2 years ago and was up around 160 before I graduated college, but then I went through some tough times after graduation and lost all the weight I had gained.

I have been reading a lot of the very helpful threads on this board and others and feel like I have a good grasp on how much I have to eat to start bulking up. However, I am unsure what the best routine is for me at this time.

I am currently considering either Mark Rippetoe's routine, which is described here: http://forum.dutchbodybuilding.com/f128/mark-rippetoes-starting-strength-routine-63770/ or a more standard routine, similar to the one Warboss Alex describes here: http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=81347

If any of you guys could give me some advice on which program I should choose (or a completely different one altogether), I would appreciate it.

Thanks

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

either would work, Rippetoe's probably tends more towards the beginner (to take advantage of squatting 3x a week) where weights aren't as important as actually doing the exercise .. I'd say start out with Rippetoe and stick with it for a while.

Thanks for the reply.

I have heard good things about Rippetoe's program for beginners, but I would love to hear some people's experiences on this board who have used it. I don't see much about it here, so if anyone has followed the program, could you please post your results?

Thanks
