"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Repetive Problem with girlfriend

Hey guys, one question I had regarding a problem I've been having with the past 2 girlfriends I've had.

I'll make a long answer really short. I've had 2 girlfriends in the past, both of which are a year younger than me. (I am 17, they are 16.) Every time I go into a relationship, I have problems meeting up with the girl. She brings up how her parents don't let her go out, etc.

Anybody know how to deal with this situation?
Would be great! I just got with this new girl about 3 weeks ago, as a note. I just want to make sure I am not making the same mistake over and over again - as this seems to happen in every relationship I get into.

I've been trying to make her come after me by avoiding having plans. I just need an idea of what to tell her.

Thanks for your time,
Nick.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

You're seventeen?

You shouldn't be wasting time with younger chicks by now.
Since I hit seventeen my only game has been 18+

Not only can they drive themselves places, but they're not terribly restricted by their parents and they're usually living alone or at college anyway.

Doesn't get better than that :)
Amen brotha.

Truthfully, if you HAVE to go for girls who's parents are dumb like that, you're gonna have to get it in well with the 'rents.

It'd be nice to know HOW they wont let them come out. Do they just say straight up she can't go out? Or she can't go out with YOU?

It seems weird that a 16 year old girl isn't allowed to hang out with people.

Let us know, be glad to help.

Haha, actually, I had a chance with an older girl; but I like to know that I worked hard to get somebody.. and she was a challenge. :) So that's not really an option for me anymore, I like this girl quite a bit, and she's got a big thing for me as well.
And unfortunately, it's very difficult to become "friends" with her rents - it's not that she is not allowed to go out with me, she isn't allowed to go out with guys in general. Her parents are just really over protective - and it seems every girlfriend I have had, has parents like that.

See, the thing is that my last girlfriend... once she broke up with me, she got a new boyfriend about 2 weeks later. (NOTE: They are still together.) And they go out once every 2 weeks! When I hardly saw her once a month, there has to be something I am doing wrong.

Once every two weeks is still really weak.
True dat.

Honestly it's not that hard to get it in with her parents. When you meet them (or next time you see them) seriously SUCK UP to them. A lot of girls I've been with tease me about it but when done correctly, it gets the parents saying, "Why don't you have _____(sniper001, maybe?) over for dinner" or "He's such a nice boy."

If they're over-protective, you need to show them that YOU can protect her. Be a gentleman. If her parents have groceries, help take them in. Say her dad used to play football, chat it up!

Most people absolutely DREAD the idea of talking to a girls parents, but one way or another you're going to have to.

One quick example:
This one girl I was with a while ago's dad was a firefighter. This was a perfect conversation starter for him and I because I do junior volunteer firefighting. After that he and I watched a 24 marathon on TV for 3 hours while the girl I was with got jealous of how much attention her dad was giving me!

It's not impossible to smooze the parents. Slowly but surely, you can do it.

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Alright, thanks for the advice guys. However, I was thinking that if I gave her less attention and tried less to make us go out, she would start making us go out. You guys must be wondering how I came up with this. Well, if anything I have learned over the past few years it is that the more you chase after a girl, the less she wants you and the more distant you become of a girl, the more she wants you.

If I started making plans with other friends, and stopped asking her to make time with me, she would start to be the "aggressor." Anybody can offer any other great advice?

I thought you said it was her parents who wouldn't let her out?!

What you're saying is true, but it wont work if she can't get out due to over-protective parents.

See the problem is that she TELLS me she can't go out because of her over-protective parents; but a part of me still feels that she isn't trying hard enough probably because I have shown interest too much.
She had a boyfriend 3 months ago, they went out quite a bit from what I remember... And he didn't even have a somewhat relationship with her rents - her rents did not even know they were good friends.

That parent thing is 95% of the time an excuse. If a girl wants you she'll find a way to make it happen.
