removing virus for computer

hey guys. How do you remove a virus from your computer? Ive already tried norton anti virus, but that doesnt do anything. I also have that avg anti virus thing too, but it just detects it, it shows me where the virus is located, but i cant find it out of all the 1000 items in that file. Any free anti-virus that i can get on websites? Just rebooting my whole computer is the last thing on my mind. This virus i have, makes cds i put onto my hardrive hard to read it.(that thing that opens/closes to put cds in) For example, when i have to put a cd for work in, it takes like 20 minutes for my computer to read the disk, and sometimes that cds just wont work. HELP!

If trend micro does not work, it would help if you could find out the name of the virus. Then type the name into Google.

I'm assuming you have ruled out that root kit from Sony BMG that secretly installs itself when you play a Sony Cd. Got mine from Foo Fighters IYH.

If not just Google sony bmg and root kit.

hopefull you have enough info on the virus to do a lookup on it and find out what to do.

forget virus cans. Do a system restore and 90% of the time it gets rid of the problem
