Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

I've been dating this girl since November. We've been going steady since about February, in which I have only been having sex with her.

She's a pretty good girl, with lots of good qualities, but also things that I don't really care for (or just want better). For instance, she's good-looking, but not totally hot. She has plenty of sex with me, but has a lot of inhibitions I wish weren't there. She has a good personality, but is not totally in sync with mine.

In other words, she's a good girl overall, but she's not what I would consider the BEST. Lately, I've been wondering if there's any point to keep dating her steady like this.

I like her a lot, and have gotten attached to her. I would miss seeing her, even though I would be out sarging for better girls.

What are your thoughts here? Btw, I'm 19, and she's 21.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

You're young, if you have these reservations and don't see yourself with this girl long-term then break it off. One of the biggest problems in relationships, in my opinion, is that people stay with a stale relationship because they haven't had a big fight or issue to break up over. Sometimes relationships just run their course and should be ended.

Thanks for adding the red text. It makes your situation more obvious. Dude go find other chicks! You're way too young to go monogamous. Hell, at 25 I'm way too young to go monogamous. For your own sake, if she already views you two as being an exclusive item you're gonna have to break it off with her because you going after other girls will be perceived as "cheating," and you don't want the drama associated with that.

The lesson here for you (there's always a lesson) is to not frame your relationships in the future so that the woman thinks you are exclusive. Exclusivity without maturity is a recipe for disaster. Maturity means being a high-quality man or woman, knowing what you want, understanding the opposite sex, and knowing how to manage relationships. Nobody expects this out of you at your age, and you certainly shouldn't expect it out of women around your age. And for the record, when you do decide that you want an LTR at some point in your life, DEMAND that it be with a woman who fits your requirements - never settle for average.

So should I just end it?

I don't think I can do that simply because we're so close now. I'm use to seeing her a lot, and I haven't even been going out trying to mack on other chicks for quite a while.

You could say I'm comfortable with her, and would feel pretty damn different if we suddently stopped seeing each other.

Get some better options going, or as it's said around here spin some plates, then decide what you want to do.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.
