"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Recently, I started seeing a woman who I'd like to pursue a relationship with--she's beautiful, funny, intelligent, and on top of it all, genuinely warm and caring.

We've gone out four times, we have a lot in common, and we've developed quite a solid rapport.

However, as we've all come to learn, none of the above will prevent a woman from laying down a hard-core sh*t-test at some point. And I get the feeling that if a woman actually likes you, she'll test you relatively soon to see if she's wasting her time with a pushover.

Anyway, here's the example:

I called her the other day and told her I thought it would be fun if we went ice-skating. She sounded very enthused, and told me she'd be off work Wednesday and Saturday (she works as a server during evenings.)

So, I made the plans for Wednesday, and we left it at that. We planned to meet at an ice rink roughly halfway between where she and I live (we live about 40 minutes apart.)

Today, the day we were supposed to skate, I got home from work and hopped online for a minute. I noticed that her status on IM said "at work," which meant she would be there all night--a night she told me she was off, and a night we'd made plans for. She never called to say she'd be working and that she wouldn't be able to make it.

This was it, I figured. This was her first major test:

"Operation Pushover: How Will He React?"

I was pissed, but I gathered my thoughts for a few minutes and
thought about how to handle it. I didn't want to call her at work, given the nature of her job, so I sent her the following text-message:

"Work, huh? Either you're testing me or dropping a hint, because you knew we had plans to go ice skating tonight. A courtesy call would have been appreciated. I don't demand much--just respect. Take care."

It's relatively mild, but it still lets her know that A.) She disrespected me, and B.) She blew it, and I'm not afraid to say 'sayonara.'

She called me back ten minutes after I sent that message, apologized profusely three times, and gave me the old, "I read the schedule wrong" excuse--she thought she was off Wednesday, but found out at the last minute it was Thursday.

Whatever. I wasn't really interested in her excuse--I was interested in how she would respond to my expressed displeasure with her actions.

After apologizing, she asked what time I got out of work tomorrow, and that she'd drive up to my place.

So, I view tomorrow as her opportunity to prove herself worthy of MY time. I'll gauge it by how she acts, but she certainly sounded contrite when she called me today--and that's the response I expected.

All in all, I figure if that WASN'T a test, she wouldn't have bothered calling me back right away, if at all. She'd have just ignored my message and moved on.

In my mind, I passed her little test. And with that, I urge all of you to keep doing what you've already learned--stay calm and in control, but be firm and up-front. If a woman responds positively to that, she's passed YOUR little test.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Well done.

Let us know how the rest of it plays out, it may be an interesting case study.

Thanks guys.

Rollo--I'll be sure to post an update after tomorrow's get-together, provided she keeps her word. Or even if she doesn't.
I've noticed you seem to have an interest in human behavior in general--as do I--so hopefully something worthwhile comes out of this.

Besides...I'd like to see the general principles of this site pay off when it actually matters to me. Since I changed my behavior, I've had plenty of success with women--but up until now I hadn't met anyone I actually wanted to pursue for anything other than casual company, or sex.

I CAN say though, that it's been good practice--and a lot of fun.

Nice work mate, this is probably going to sound pedantic but it will bug me otherwise.

Just something with your text you sent.

With this chick it sounds like it worked but dont forget "testing" and games women sometimes use can be more of an inherant biological trait if you will to weed out lesser males, what I mean is sometimes she may not even be aware shes testing (how you perceive it) yes obviously this chick did but on occasions bringing to light that your actually aware of her games can sometimes be unsettling for her or even come across as whiny and analytical. And dont forget in general its not a good idea to verbalise or in your case text the fact that your aware of the game in that way at least until you tap it. Am I making sense or talking out of my ass?

This would have worked just aswell in my opinion:
A courtesy call would have been appreciated. I don't demand much--just respect. Take care

Anyway me being anal retentive aside, you did well and yeah keep us posted.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Chicks

Do flakey things sometime. No matter how well you play the game sometimes, some chicks are just going to flake. She may nor may not flake again. Calling her on it, in my mind, increased the odds that she'll show up. If she doesn't, then she was going to use you like a yo-yo anyway.
I think you did the right thing.

If you have any more trouble with her at all, I wouldn't try this again. I'd move on. Sometimes it sucks to just NEXT NEXT NEXT but as long as you're getting booty before you drop the NEXT then I think you're doing good. IF you cannot get booty within 3 dates, then I think you're doing something wrong.

What would you have done if you didn't see her away message? Wait like an hour then call her once and say forget it?

Sounds like this chick is a beyotch and you need to drop her.

Update

Here's the update:

Mission Accomplished--she kept her word.

I decided we should go mini-golfing instead of ice-skating last night...no need to be predictable, I figured.

So when we arrived in the parking lot, before we got out of the car, I looked at her and said "you owe me," and pointed to my cheek. She leaned over and gave me a long, soft, kiss right where I pointed, which of course led to a little extra fun before we played our round.

Obviously the whole "you owe me/cheek pointing thing" wasn't a big deal, but I decided since she showed up, I'd already made my point to her about being respected and didn't need to push it further. Plus she didn't hesitate for even a second when I pointed, so she obviously knew she'd been a bad girl.

Then, just before we started playing, I offered a little "wager." Again, she was game. I told her if I win, she had to cook me Chicken Marsala one night next week (she had mentioned this as being her favorite thing to cook. It's also one of my favorite things to eat.)

End result? I whooped her, she was a good sport about it, and now I have a nice home-cooked meal to look forward to next week.

And if she tries blowing me off again?

I'm going to point a little lower...
