I was thinking of this when a young bachelor came to update my electrical service. We talked about finances, and he said he was working on getting a fancy bass boat, new truck, and hunting cabin; he didn't mention making money to "bring home the bacon".

No, they are a real thing, and I've met a few who have been divorced from the man that brought them over (they are amazed at the level of Russian that I know ); I wasn't interested because they were single mommies (many of them so before their ex-husband sponsored them for immigration ).
