Rant about my friends

I've known my so called friends for over 13 years now. But what happened (or what not happened) the last few days makes me think.

Normally we see each other every weekend for a drink. When the weather is good it also happens during the week to have a drink at a bar outside. I haven't seen them for 4 weeks now, mainly because of work and of going on a trip with my family.

None, I repeat, none, of them has asked me where I am or why I can't come. Only one friend just texted me two times they were at this particular bar. Look, to be honest, I don't ask them either how it's going etc. I think we're just friends out of necessity, just to be with each other because we have no one else.

Today just got me furious. It's one of the last good days of the year where I live, temperatures are ideal to sit outside with a good beer. I asked on our whatsapp group if they wanted to go for a drink. None of them answered and when I checked steam, they were just playing a game...

Yesterday the weather was the same, this time one of the girls asked to go for a drink. Guess what, they all jumped right onto it, answering within 10 seconds (I'm not kidding).

Look, I want new friends who are more like me, but I live in a very secluded area. That plus the fact I'm quite the introvert makes it very difficult for me to make new ones. I can't move because of my work. Yes these are excuses, but there is more to it of why I can't which would lead me to far.

I'm sick and tired of this ****. I have a role in this as well. I have my problems as well, but yeah it's obvious that apparently I'm that one 'friend' they don't mind losing.

I know that this board talks a lot about the importance of social circles, and I don't disagree. But, as an introvert myself, I just have one really good buddy, and that's enough. I don't think I would be able to keep a group of people together.

Go for quality rather than quantity.

Remember, friends don't pay your bills. maybe join a martial arts class or latin dancing. many places to meet new people. and tbh...sometimes friendships run their course.

Everything you mentioned is just how people are. I'm an introvert too (extroverted introvert) and I understand what motivates my friends. I try to feed these things by finding common interests we share and making plans. You are never going to get the same level of attention as a cute girl, get over it man. Thinking this way is just making you bitter. It doesn't even make sense, you are competing with a woman, what? are you to start taking diiicks?

You have a whatsapp group with them, you have them on Steam... what else do you want? YOU ARE PART OF THE GROUP! One person even reached out to you and all you do is complain it wasn't more of them doing it. That one person that reached out to you THATS YOUR MAN RIGHT THERE. Communicate back, make plans with him and invite the rest. Word gets out, you gain popularity. Thats how it works. With a toxic mindset like this I wouldn't want to hang out with you either, your lucky you have friends. They don't owe you anything.

One of the best things I ever did for myself is I started to give attention to those that gave attention to me. I let my friends choose me. And want to know what happened? I made the best friends I ever had. These are the guys that make EPIC wing men. I had friends that paid little attention to me like that, want to know what I did? CUT THEIR ARSES OFF. So I could focus more attention on the good ones and i'm a happier person for it 1000 fold.

Don't let your happiness be so short sighted, the win is the end game. Getting that coolest person you know to chill with you one night is not it. It's finding a long term friend that really puts time into your relationship is the best thing you can have man. A good friend is worth his weight in ADAMANTIUM.
