"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

You need to find something that replaces the feelings you got from smoking.

It's all a matter of willpower... that, and the willingness to accept the inevitable headaches that come with quitting. Best bet is to stock up on water and advil... and start checking out one of the thousands of websites and free programs out there that help people quit smoking.

quitting smoking

I used to smoke a packet a day (25), and i quit a year ago - i haven't smoked since.

At the time it feels like the hardest thing you'll ever do.
Yes it is a question of willpower. I tried the patches, but they didnt help me at all, so i thought "phuckit" and went cold turkey. What i did do, however, was smoke 1mg cigarettes (very very low tar/nicotine) for a couple of weeks before i quit. This didnt work like magic, but it did help slightly.

Most important of all is changing the associated habits - the ones you think are irrelevant but are not. Stop seeing the friends you normally smoke with. Stop going to the bars you normally go to where you smoke. Stop hanging out with smokers at school or whatever. (By stop, i mean stop for like 3 weeks or a month or so... long enough to gain some control over the smoking addiction). If quitting smoking is important to you, you will do this.

For things to change: first, THINGS MUST CHANGE (sounds stupid but it's true). Change your habits and lifestyle drastically. Dont just do what u normally do in your day and try to quit - you'll hang out with your friends and get drunk bla bla bla you'll never quit like that. And if you dont really wanna quit, dont even try - it's too hard. If you do want to do it, you'll do it. Every other ex-smoker has done it, so can you.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

I chewed tobacco from ages 16-21 and switched to smoking a pack of cigarettes a day from ages 21-25.

I always knew that I would quit someday.

I finally quit when I started taking Wellbutrin, which is another name for the drug Zyban. Zyban is a tablet that curbs nicotine cravings.

I was taking Wellbutrin for a few weeks and smoking as usual when one day, I lit up a cigarette and it tasted horrible! There was almost no buzz and each drag tasted like ass. Then, one day I ran out of cigarettes. Instead of driving to a local store to pick up a pack, I just drove home and never smoked again. There were very few cravings after that, but nothing that caused me to even take a puff. My close friend smoked around me daily too. In a nutshell, Zyban helped me quit smoking painlessly.

Willpower? doesnt work, just gonna torture yourself

Truth be told, the key is you have to WANT to quit. If you dont, deep down, WANT to quit, its not happening.

However, once your an addict, you will never be completely free. I quit five months ago and still get urges every once in a while.

I'd recommend this too as it also helped me quit. You can also get a audio version and CD rom now too. I didn't believe it helped at first, but in retrospect it was the primary turning point for me and changed how I felt about smoking.

Also try chewing on toothpicks or matches. They help distract from the process of smoking.

Silverwex: Congratulations on the 7 weeks mate! I bet you're starting to feel your health improve by now, right?

Hey Jariel, uh... its kinda weird but I still feel the same, prob coz I wasnt a heavy smoker (6/7 a day on average) BUT the thing is, I LOVED smoking so it wouldve been tough for me to give up cold turkey!

Im telling you guys, dont bother with willpower, patches, gum etc... just read the book and itll all be over - no cravings (if there are they will be very small cravings!) or anything.

Im living proof. So too is Jariel! :)

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

It's prescription. Set an appointment with your family physician and ask for it.
