So my landlords are these little old eastern European couple who own a sh!t restaurant below.
I live above them but it has its own separate entrance.
So the mail, for some reason, always goes down to them, and all the tenants go down there to get there mail. Well I've been waiting for a check from school, and it should have came.
I've been down to check on the mail after a week of not going down. Normally I at least have a few bills. But lately nothing.
I suspected they told the mailman I don't live there any more. The reason why is because my roomate lost his job, and moved out because he couldn't afford rent. He had one more check coming in the mail, and he told the landlords he will be back for it, and pay what he owes them. Well turns out they told the mailman he doesn't live here anymore, and didn't receive his mail.
So when I didn't even receive a bill I became suspicious, and when I ask them if I have mail, they get this deer in the head lights look.
Well today I get this email which didn't go to my spam box and it says "We heard you've moved or are planning your move. We're Moving Concierge, and we provide a free service to help you transition to your new home with tips, information and unique offers. You can learn more on our website.
It's one of the last things you're probably thinking about, but it's one of the first things we wanted to remind you about. Be sure to notify the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) and the SSA (Social Security Administration) of your address change.
You can use Form 8822 to submit a change of address to the IRS. If you have children who also file tax returns, each child will have to complete a separate Form 8822. You'll of course need social security numbers for everyone who's moving and has a tax filing requirement.
Speaking of Social Security, to submit a notification to the SSA, you need to go on their website and create an account (if you don't already have one). This is important for continuing SSA benefits as well as protecting your identity.
For other tips and offers, be sure to add us to your Safe Senders list. We're glad to be of help and hope you have a great time in your new home!"
So these fvcks have been rejecting my mail.
Is this illegal? I thought it was a felony to tamper with peoples mail.
Does any one know what kind of action I can take. I really need this money.
