Question about weight-gainer powder

I normally don't use stuff like this, but I scored a huge tub of it for around 20 bucks. The tub says that each serving is "3 cups" (plastic measuring cup was inside the tub), and that there are 5 servings.


WTF??? does that mean after 5 days your 20 bucks is just... GONE? Or am I missing something here? Do you take this on alternate days, or every 2-3 days, or what? I had no idea getting big on weight-gainer powder was SO expensive.... :eek:

Check the amout of carbs and protein in each serving. When I used a weight-gainer, I used 1/3 of the recommended amount.

It says here on the tub that there are 1500 calories per serving (3 cups of that powder). I had a serving, but cut it down to 2 cups and an extra cup of milk. That means 1000 calories +plus about 400 calories from the 3 cups of milk. The regular recommended size serving (1500 cals) had 50 g of protein, or 100% the RDA (rec. daily amount). Taking only 2/3 of that recommended portion gave me 75% of the RDA, but I think I made up for it with the 3 cups of milk....


The taste wasn't too bad (vanilla), but damn the portion was HUUGE. :eek: I'm talkin enough to satiate a Sasquatch. I feel like puking right now, but whatever... whatever it takes to get stronger and bigger. :p

Sounds nutty to me. I'm just started using Cytogainer, and each serving is 4 little scoops, which is around 1,000 calories and 54 grams of protein when mixed with water. A 6 lb tub was around $30, and it lasts about a month using two shakes a day. Chocolate mint mixed with a bannana and some peanut butter is some goooood ish. :p
 

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Look at how much sugar is in the wt gainer.. Usually those things are loaded with sugar, which just adds more fat then you really want. Better to stick with real food. But if you want to use the wt gainer, cut back on the scoops, add some milk, and it'll last longer as taking it once per day or something.

I ate 5-6 small meals a day, with the weight-gainer being one of those meals. I would consume it after my workout. From the weight-gainer, I would try to get between 75-100 grams of carbs.

Bump that.

You will gain mass from powders, but if you want to maximize lean muscle gain you have to eat with correct macronutrient proportions (eg. 40:40:20, pro/carb/fat)

Personally i find shoving 1500 cals down in one meal just adds fat, especially if they're 80% sugar like many powders out there are.
