Question About The New Apple Watches

My daughter wants an apple watch for Christmas. It is my understanding that the new ones have a phone number and cell service tied to them now. I was wondering if it would still be of any use to her without the number/service on it? Dad is a cheapo' who doesn't want another monthly bill.

Yes you can tether your phone to your watch. It's not it's own service though. If you already have an iPhone with a data plan then it will pair up with no additional expense.

Be aware though, if that watches screen cracks/breaks- the ENTIRE watch has to be replaced.

With AppleCare+ they will replace the watch. I promsie you that you have to replace the whole watch. I used to work at Apple up until the X came out.
