"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

Hey guys, I am pretty new to the whole game, read countless articles, and listened to all of David D's stuff...however I don't think I have ever come across anything about a situation I just recently faced. I was out with a very attractive, probably an 8.5, having dinner, we have known each other a long time but I am trying to take it to the next level. She hadn't seen me in a few months and said she could tell I have been working out (I started bodybuilding a few months ago, gained 30lbs of muscle) and that I was looking good, I told her she was looking good as well and she burst out with the loudest laugh I have heard in a while. I was kind of at a loss and just asked her honestly why she thought that was funny, of course she had no answer for me.

So what's the deal, did I strike a good chord, or am I a moron?

P.S. This is my first post here, looks like a great community, will definately be sticking around :D.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

Hey, welcome to the forums.

I'm gonna give a very abstract answer here, but this is as I understand it.

It's not what you say, it how you say it. I'm sure you've listened to David D's ****y comedy? I'd call it a simple human reaction to how you communicated.

Here's the breakdown. She told you "You look good." which raised your status. And maybe you responded in a non expectant way. Maybe she was expecting you to say: "Not as good as you." Or some mushy shyt. If you said your line casually then that probably raised your status even more.

So then her brain yanked her and told her she's giving you too much status. Instinctively she laughs, hoping you would find the laughter funny and start laughing yourself, thus lowering your status down to hers.

:) Never laugh to make other's laugh or relieive tension, and spit on the people who want to make you laugh by laughing themselves. :)

*shrugs* Good question, though. Difficult to answer.

Dont worry i spoke to the girl in question and she has informed me the reason she laughed was because you had a massive bogey sticking out of your nose!

i wondered why every 5 minutes we had a new server... they must have been disgusted by the green thing hanging from my nose :p.

as far as the way i was saying it, i would say i was pretty non-chalant about, and when she laughed i just kind of arched my eyebrow then asked why she thought it was funny. so i take it then that this is a successful way to handle a situation like that then?

btw i know the end result was good, we are going out again, was just unsure about that particular event :)

Yeah, quite alright, I think. You didn't hand over even a single ball hair.

No big deal, though. :)
