Well, BigMan started a similar, unhelpful topic, and it really needs to be discussed.

During school I obviously can't cook eggs. I started bringing a jar of peanuts and a milk carton full of water every day, but I couldn't get in enough calories. So now I bring PB sandwiches. But I'd rather not be eating 8 slices of bread per day, it's semi-useless calories.

I like jerky, but it's too expensive. Yogurt may do. I've brought boiled eggs in the past, but damnit they are nasty.

Any schoolboys know what I'm talking about? How do you handle it. Just can't wait untill college where cafeteria is open 24/7

I can't say that I have the same problems you have, being out of school and in the business world where I set my own schedule and make all the rules
. Makes it a little easier to get my nutritional requirements. I do have some suggestions though.

Don't laugh....

PORK RINDS!

Yep, almost all protein, low fat and carbs, low cholesterol.

They also make these soy things kinda like corn nuts. You can get them at Vitamin Shoppe.

Ummmmm.....jerky....

You can make your own jerky! If youre strapped for cash wait till some kind of roast is on sale or something. I prefer london broil. There are plenty of recipes on the net. AND the taste is MUCH better than the shyt you buy in a bag. After eating homemade jerky youll wonder how you ate that shyt in a bag.

Low fat?? Theyre fried!!! I dont think its a very good protein either.

Pork rinds DO come in handy on a low carb diet, though.

I do the PB sandwich method.

Heres a tip to reduce the amount of bread:

instead of using 2 slices of bread for your sandwhich, spread the PB on one slice and then fold the slice in half.

I take 2 of these per day, and I also have protein bars in my car. I eat one of the bars as soon as I get out of school.

I should have specified. Lawreys makes a microwave pork rind that is not fried. Whetethr or not it's good quality...I dunno, but it's quick and handy.

Good ole Chicharrones!

EACH serving contains;

Total fat 2g
Saturated fat 0g
Cholesterol 5mg
Sodium 350mg
Total Carbs <1g
Protein 9g

I eat a full bag (3 servings) at a time, so triple these stats for a more realistic serving size.

They make them in plain and spicy(MMMMM!). Good when you get a potato chip type food craving.

Cheap too.

home made protein bars...

I found this on the bodybuilding.com forums...

Home made protein bars

found this receipe,

1 Cup peanut butter (Natural or low fat)
8 Table spoons of honey
1-1&1/2 cups of uncooked oats
1-1&1/2 cups of protein powder

Mix the pb & honey togather and microwave until warm

Mix the oats and protein powder

Then mix the pb & honey with the oats & protein powder and smooth in a pan, let cool, then cut into squares and eat.

Assuming that you want 40 gms of protein per serving, you would divide that batch up 6 ways: Each bar would have

520 cals
40 gms protein
21 gms of fat
45 gms of carbs
21 gms of sugar....Lot cheaper than buying bars.

This might give you guys some ideas, play around with the recipe for you personal goals.

Put some egg whites and rolled oats in a blender. Add some cinnamon. Blend. Spray a pan with that low cal butter spray. Cook up the mixture into little silver dollar pancakes. Let them cool in the fridge. You can take these on the go with you. They're a little rubbery but if you really need a protein snack that's affordable and doesn't taste like ass, this is a good choice.
