Is there any truth that protein is hard on the kidneys? if true how do you avoid

Yeah, at least you get ache in them if you eat alot of protein. The simple solution is to drink more water. It is very hard to eat too much protein if you drink loads of water.

If you eat more than 50g of protein a day it's probably already too late. Go to your doctor immediately and see if you have kidney cancer.

1 gallon per g/lb protein you eat. So if you eat 1.5g protein per lb bodyweight then you need 1.5 gallons water for optimal kidney function.

(1 gallon ~= 3 litres)
