For those men of color who are professionals (doctors, engineers, lawyers, professors, successful businessmen, etc.), would you say it is extremely hard to get a white woman of equal status? At this point in their career, men are probably looking for marriage or at least a long-term relationship. However, while WW (of all classes) are very willing to sleep with or date minority men, I would say a small minority of professional WW in the U.S. are willing to marry men of color. It's kind of ironic--despite the extensive education of professionals and the independent thinking that comes with greater education, many professional WW seem to prefer WM. In fact, I would argue that it would be easier for a successful man of color to get a lower class WW than it is for him to get a professional WW, since the money factor comes into play with the lower class WW.

I hate this BS. All the time you see very well educated Asian women, Black women, Latina women, and other women of color throwing themselves to WM. In fact, many times you see professional women of color marrying lower class WM. But colored men are limited in their options. I'm looking at graduate school, and I am getting somewhat worried about being able to meet a WW in medical/law/business school. Perhaps I need to go to Europe.

I'd appreciate responses on this issue.

As a black guy myself, in high school, I'd say its actually *alot* harder to get white woman or asian woman than if you were white yourself. Harder, but not impossible :D

I guess the same thing applies when you are in a professional career. But if you go to libraries and other places I'm sure you can find some girl who is interested in you and is in a professional career, so no worries. Its just harder being black. Keep your confidence up though.

I disagree. Its only harder if you think its harder.

can I ask what race YOU are?

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

From my personal experience, minority men need super game in the U.S. Also, a number of minority women (Asian, Latina, Black, etc.) are increasingly not open to dating their own. Professional minority women think they're god's gift to men, so they are becoming out of reach. I'm Middle Eastern, but I look Hispanic. Where I'm at for professional school there are no minority women--I've looked all over for Hispanic or Middle Eastern women. WWs are my only option. Yet, even the WW whose skin color is only one or two shades lighter than mine act like they're 100x better than me.

Honestly, the U.S. is messed up for men of color. I don't know how I can meet professional Euro women, but I'm going to get one.

This is the premise of many "insiders" when reacting as a horde. It's not specific to just race either. Religion, education level and your preference (professional status) all have a hand in segregation. Like it or not, people are usually most comfortable around people who are similar. Occasionally they can actually see beyond the packaging.

I think it's harder for most men of ANY race to "get" a woman of ANY race when she is of "equal (or greater) status." This seems to be the general consensus, right?

It's not always about race. Very high status minority men seem to be doing ok in this regard (At least among those in the news, anyway.)

I'm not saying racism is dead ---- I believe it's still very true that minorities face significant unfair disadvantages.

But white guys have trouble with "equal" or greater status women, too.

Women marry "up."

Forget this thread anyways, the guy is a troll.
I totally agree. It is just as racist on the part of all these guys who only want a white woman. Then they cry racism if every white woman doesn't want them. White women as a whole are the most "equal opportunity" daters of all.

Some people prefer one color of skin over the other. Some people of different race have a little different personality than the other race which attracts other people. Or how they talk. Whether your black, white, brown, yellow, red,... It don't matter were all equally created and have the same oppertunity to get any woman.

Well, although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I still think and always will think people of color have more difficulty, and always will. I want to believe that everyone was created with equal opportunity, but it's sadly not true...doesn't stop me from trying though, right? I'll back up my opinion though.

1.) The media. (no homo), When you see "hot guys" in the media, they are almost always white guys. There are *very* few black men seen as attractive in the media....only Denzel Washington and that african dude who played in "Blood Diamond," am I right? But in the white community there is Brad Pitt, Matthew McConahay (spelling?), George Clooney, and the list can go on and on and on. And they keep getting new faces like Zac Efron. What is my point? Well, since women don't think for themselves as much as guys do, we all know this, they tend to look to friends, family, and the media for their opinion on good looking guys.

2.) The black men you see scoring non-black women, like Tiger Woods with the Swedish supermodel....you have to understand that its not his looks she's going for, he *is* the richest athlete in the world at the moment. Money attracts women.

3.) Historically, lighter skinned people are favored over darker skinned folk. In ancient Rome, the Latin word "Candida" has been used to describe beautiful women for centuries. Its meaning: Pale-Skinned. Its the same way in Greece and most everywhere else in history.

I live in the south. White women DO NOT usually go out with black guys. Ive asked a few why not. They simply find black men gross and the thought of it makes them disgusted. This is what women have told me. And this is coming from people who I know are not racist. Whats wrong with wanting to stay within your own race anyway? Why do so many black guys want white women?

What NSU says is pretty true. I'm from the south too, and all I can be for alot of white women down there is just eye candy. There is nothing wrong with wanting to stay in your own race, and there equally isn't anything wrong with wanting women from other races. But I hope you know, NSU, that black people are in the minority....whites are in the majority. So that means they will obviously see more white women. WW are not what black folk always want either....you just see that sh*t in the media ALL THE TIME.

You really shouldn't have a problem with it, it's pretty racist of you, ya know...so your post was pretty racist.

I dunno which part of the "south" you are in, but it ain't that way where I am. (Texas)

LOT'S of women date and f*ck black guys, and THAT'S OK. I don't care. Whatever. People want what they want.

Why do you CARE whether black guys want white women (or, even, vice versa, for that matter.)?

NSUBaller, your post IS racist, on it's face.

(P.S., I'm white.)

I dont care if any of you think I m racist. Im simply stating facts. One of my black friends asked me and a couple white guys why we wouldnt be with a white girl who has been with a black guy. My friend said "Its gross". thats not racist. Its an opinion.

Where I live it is socially unacceptable for white girls to date black guys(for the most part). People look at that girl differently because of it. Personally I think mixing races is wrong, thats my opinion. Its not racist because someone who doesnt like thinks it is. Ive personally witnessed a friend of mines son who is half black/white. The poor child came home from school one day crying because the kids were teasing him because he didnt know if he was white or black.

99.5% of white women date/go out with/marry white men. Also very rarely do you see a white man with a black woman. There are exceptions to every rule though.
