So i have a dvd player...front loading with no tray, put in a 9.4 GB dvd which it did not play. Took it out and now it wont play any discs at all. It wont even spin there. WTF happened? I dont want to spend 100 bucks to get it fixed if it something i can do myself. Its part of my home stereo so i dont exactly want to use my ps2 or computer for the next 6 months to watch movies. i want my surround sound!

My advice is to bring it to a repair shop and get an estimate on the unit.

The advice I would absolutely not give is to find a large store where the exact same DVD player is being sold, buy it with a credit card, wait a few days and then return the defective unit (after you clean it thorougly) in the new one's box. This is completely immoral, and while you would basically get a brand new DVD player for $0, you'd probably burn in hell. Probably.

Well, you can always buy a new one.

Its far too time consuming to spend 20min making an account on one of these tekkie sites that can show you how to fix literally anything. Just throw it out and buy a new one. Its only a few hundred dollars. That money helps the economy go round.

What's better. 20min (and actually learning something useful like how to repair stuff) or -($200 to 300?)

Oh Crap! I'm burning. Seriously though, no harm done, electronics that are well treated should last atleast a year. So I support Diablo's approach. Otherwise, if you wanna be moral - electrnics repair shop.
