Just wanted to get some opinions on political conversations with girls. What you guys think - good/bad?

I was talking to this hot 9 the other day who seems like such a dense blonde but then just for a laugh i asked her about something political (namely the iraq war thing) and man she had some interesting and very intellectual opinions.

"Politics is the best way to lose friends"

My school had an anti-war protest, perhaps you saw it on the news. It was Moreau High School. And there were debates and such. Most of the girls I like were dumb left-wingers who said "war is bad because people die".

I lost a lot of respect for certain people last week, and my pro-war stance has made many people mad at me too. I don't suggest you talk about it.

Stickboy has it right.

Everytime you talk about politics with anyone, anyone, it cuts your Mojo by half.

The most "eloquent" political arguers I know are the ones who have less chicks around them.

Religion, politics and sometimes musical likes/dislikes should never be discussed.

Man have this urge to CONVERT anyone into their beliefs, their truths.
Ever since I noticed this, I set myself apart from 99% of the guys that all girls came in contact with.

Think about it, while you're arguing with HB1 about the war on Iraq, I'm talking with HB2 of how good it feels when you go out in the rain and get all wet... how great it feels to leave all worries and troubles and have fun, like a child who dances in the rain.

Now, who do you think that is going to make her feel more exicted? You or me ?

Ranting doesn't lead you to anywhere. You want to get girls laughing, crying, feeling emotions, not bored !!
Nothing bores me more than political discussions !!
That's why I stay away from Anything Else forum... sometimes my friends accuse me, saying that I should worry more about world's political issues, but, if I spend 2 hours reading articles about US x Iraq and then go discuss with my friends about it, what change will it make ?? None !!

If I had spent these 3 hours working out and reading A.S.F. , I would be way better !!

I learned this from my great natural DJ friend: "God is just between me and him, and noone else. And politics, leave it up to them (the politicians). "

And with girls?? That's a crime !!
See, macking girls is supposed to be fun!! And politics is not even a little funny !!

I'd rather follow xblitz's routine (Comfort - Connection - Excitment - Arousal) than waste my precious words with politics.
See, the best that politics can get you is a feeling of connection. But is she's a pro-war, there are thousands of pro-wars, so how good is that connection going to feel ??

But, this is my humble opinion. I'm not trying to impose it to anyone.
If you'd like to talk, talk !!
But remember, 1 hour of politics talking is as effective as 5 minutes of her laughing !!

I think I may elaborate on this later...

Yeah that's very true brazilian.

When i talked to this girl about the war in iraq, i obviously didn't mention any of my opinions (hey, im mysterious;)) but when i asked her about it it was like she just went CLICK. It set off some sort of passion inside and once you've seen this side of a girl (her intelligent side) you can finally compliment her on the only thing i really compliments HBs with - their minds.

If the girl is passionate about politics and she's talking to you about it (she obviously never talks about this sort of thing with anyone) then how can it be boring? As long as you don't disagree with her then the connection she'll feel will definitely intensify - how can that be a bad thing?

And another side note - if she makes a serious point about something she believes in asks you about your views, it can easily be made to be humourous:

Her: <insert policitical crap in here>So what do you think?
Me: This whole situation never would have started if it wasn't for Nsync.
<insert laughing>

And hey, if she has the exact same views as you do then BOOM - Hello Rapport! You have something that you share - and anytime she see's something on the news relating to it she'll think of you and that connection she has with you. :)

BTW Wuwd - i think we both need to be less political. I've realised that it's so afc to reveal such strong beliefs and to hold other ppl beliefs against them. In the end, we're not converting anybody - we're just revealing how aggressive we can be.

Geez, am I the only one who talks about politics with girls?

Most girls, in high school I've known, were knowledged on this aspect (even if they were somewhat liberalised by the Australian system). I'm never a serious guy, so when I start talking politics they are quite surprised. I met this girl who I got along ok with, and I tried some amateur SS without any effect, but when I mentioned something about how the college socialists and US hawks are becoming too brainwashed in their own individual "opinions" to care about each other, she suddenly started becoming more interested.

Maybe you guys are too hard on your opinions. If you imply you are right and she is wrong, its a turn-off (even to associates). Try to listen to the opposition's opinions, agree with a FEW of them, but stand your ground. Respect her opinion, and she'll respect yours.

Hey, I support totalitarian states, labour camps (HARD labour), cutting off welfare, propaganda, political manipulation. I even support shady stuff like the Americans support Afghan terrorists during the Soviet '79 liberation, and the Soviets supporting Rwandan terrorists during the late 70s. I'm an extreme capitalist and love child labour (I can make an entire speech on the reasons), I'm completely against trade unions, and I see democracy as weak.

Yet a girl I used to be an LTR with was extremely pro-democracy, pro-humanitarian, left-wing, anti-globalisation, etc etc. And no, we didn't break up because of opinion (we broke up because I didn't feel ready for such a long, 11-month LTR).

Gentlemen never discuss religion and politics.

Two subjects which never fail to cause great controversy. These are topics you should not only not discuss with girls, but in fact not with anyone who is not a close and immediate friend. Simply because everyone has their own bright idea on these subjects, their own opinion and point of view, and often it doesn't click with ours. And when that happens, natural instinct wants us to try and make them see it OUR way. They experience the same feeling as well, and suddenly you are both arguing about it.

What for? Fragmentor said it nicely "In the end, we're not converting anybody - we're just revealing how aggressive we can be".

Remember CONTROL? We are supposed to be in control of our emotions. When we bring up hot topics like religion and politics, we tend to get very hotheaded when arguing our points (Please check the Anything Else forum if you want hard proof). Nobody is going to give way, and all that you create is animosity between you and the person. There are quite a few people who post here whose seduction advice I find it hard to take now, after learning of their political beliefs and how they chose to share it with the rest of us. It has nothing to do with them being lousy DJ's (quite the contrary actually), it's because I got aggravated at their politics.

Basically don't talk politics with women. Really. It's a waste of time. You do not create the same type of feelings that you should in a seduction when talking about politics. Forget about trying to randomly obtain rapport - there are MANY other topics you could connect on. Also, it is false to believe that a person will sound intelligent if they talk politics. Please. What if their politics conflict with yours? You wouldn't consider them intelligent, you'd consider them stupid for picking such an angle.

Stay away from the controversial stuff. Keep it light-hearted, funny and FUN.

Brazilian is right

Yep he's right, trying to seduce women with political ideals won't work until college. You gotta go with standard stuff until then. I love debating with guys, I always come back from lunch hoarse from yelling at them. But debating with girls is stupid if you want to fvck them. Save it for the non HB's or your LTR.
