Yeah, I read it. It has some interesting insight. You could almost apply some of the logic to everything in life. You have to be really committed however. The 48 laws of power is a good compliment to that book.
In an abstract sort of way, Mickey Royal's teaching are similar to what you read in many self help books.

Check out the book, PIMP by Iceberg Slim too. Excellent info. Most of the stuff from that book has been quoted in one form or another around here.
