I am in that "mid to VERY late 40s" range lol. In fact very close to 50. I lift 5 days a week and eat well.

Big Neil you are about my age so you should get on my regiment. I would also change your lifting program. I can help you with that. You are getting into "skinny fat" territory. Good job on your weight loss though
I owe it mainly to as I said, working out and a good diet, but a huge part of it is Vitamin C and lysine/proline. I started on a heavy regiment of it about 5 years ago. My twin brother had a heart attack with 3 stents put in due to his blockages. He was 160 pounds, an athlete, didnt smoke. All genetics with the heart issues. He was put on all of the usual statins and drugs and felt horrible. In fact after his year the one arterial blockage without a stent grew by 25%. We normally get enough to counteract the effects of short term scurvy, but not enough to counteract the effects of long term scurvy. That leads to inflammation in our arteries, our cells, skin and immunity issues, etc due to collagen issues. So for example with our heart, when it beats we get little stress fractures in our arteries and our body sends lipo protein to fix those. But because we lack vit C and not enough lysine, out arteries (which are made of collagen) are very weak and our body sends the wrong things to heal those arterial fractures. That leads to blockages and the heart attacks. This is why wild animals, including meat eaters with high cholesterol, that do make vit C in their bodies, don't die of things like heart disease and cancer like people do. Many animals make 8-12 grams a day in their bodies or more. Humans are lucky to ingest 100 mgs a day, if that.
