"Be yourself" never works you say?!?! Of course it doesn't, you have to be your BEST self. Some people have mentioned this before, but I would like to apply this to a nice little model I built over the couple few days...

First, the Compass. The compass is a tool used to determine someones personality type. It has four "directions" for each different type of personality: North, South, East and West. Heres a summary of each type:

North- Determined, Goal-centered, Leader

South- Friendly, Helpful, Peacemaker

East- Cool, calculated, logical

West- Energetic, Creative, Free-spirited

Now, some of you may have noticed that north and south are complete opposites while east and west are complete opposites as well.

The DJ principles seem to be based around mostly North and West traits (North- ****y/confident and West- funny/adventurous)

But what happens when you are South or east. You may think you're screwed.

"South!!! I'm a gaddam AFC!! A NICE GUY!!! AHHHHH!"

or maybe

"EAST!!! Cr@p!!! I'm boring and unemotional!!! AHHH"

But don't worry, you can be a chick magnet no matter what type you are. If you are north, then it is fairly obvious. You basically posses the Alpha Male traits. Just work to strengthen them and you will be your best self.

Are you a west? The work on your strengths! You are adventurous! Chicks love that. Surprise her with your imagination and high energy levels. Be your BEST self!

If you are a south (like myself), then don't worry, you are not AFC or the dreaded NICE GUY. AFC's are actualli one of these types of people:

a) people PRETENDING to be south when they are not

b) south's with low self esteem/confidence

The secret to South's chick magnetism is CHARM and HAPPINESS. You are a prince on a horse, sweeping your girl away. Just build some confidence and treat the girl like you treat everyone else- with respect, but on the same "level."

What about the easts? Well, easts are known for their cool-ness and control. They are calm and intelligent- excellent traits to attract chicks. Think of Keanu Reeves... (I know, i hate reeves, but i know many chicks who dig him so...)

So now, all you have to do is find your type, and work on your strengths. And to quote Pook:

"Imitation is SUICIDE"

Don't try to be something you're not and you'll already be ahead of 90% of the male population.

And the great thing about the compass is that you can apply it to all aspects of your life, not just chicks.

nice post! i definetely consider myself a west one, maybe south-west...

i can't see why an alpha male is to be north... i completely disagree on this point, since alpha males have not only to be leaders, but also friendly (south), cool (east) and free-spirited (west)

i suppose the alpha male is the one who has in himself all the best traits of the compass

Yeh, the SUPER Alpha-male is a perfect mixture of all four traits, but these guys pop up once every 100 yrs... and try to take over the world

The Alpha males we talk about on this site is mostly the leader, confident (bordering on arrogant) type people, which is basically a North trait.

Now, with faking it till you make it, it can be a delicate issue. With things like confidence, it will be alright to fake it till you make it. But with personality traits like the ones shown in the personality compass, it is foolish to do so. Fist of all, you can fake all you like but you will never "make it." You are who you are, and faking it will only add layers of "fakeness" on top of your true self.

And besides, whats the point of faking personality when all of them attract girls equally well? Our goal of being DJ's isn't to be someone else. Our goal is to unleash our potential and be the best we can be.

Taking over the world ... I've always wanted to do that

I'm inclined to believe that having plenty from all four personality types, though obviously extraordinarily difficult, is absolutely necessary, because the alternative would be too limiting to be desirable.

I'm almost 100% East myself, and it's a very empty and unbalanced existence. I can't help but feel that progress lies not in even further developing my easterly traits, but in getting everything else up to par with them.

Putting your best foot forward is a great idea, but useless when your other foot doesn't work at all.

Oooh yes, I believe I was exagerating a little bit. Obviously, we cannot just develop one part of our personality, and close and eyes and start praying we will never need the other three traits.

But we all have a DOMINANT personality.
Visceral for example is East, and according to him, TOO east. There is no problem in developing your other traits (your West traits especially), but whatever you do, don't try to make the other sides your Dominant personality.

We all know AFC's are like, they are trying to make South their Dominant personality when to everyone else, it is painfully obvious they are not built to be a south.

So basically, I am saying:

"Expand your horizon, but stay true to your roots."
