The Game : Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists
by Neil Strauss

Is anybody else going to get this book when it comes out? (September 1, 2005)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/t...=sr_1_11/103-1565647-8243018?v=glance&s=books

It is about a writer (Neil Strauss) who infultrates the 'seduction community'. I think it would be a damn good read. I lurk over at www.fastseduction.com and I would like to see what this guys take is on all the seminars and ebooks that these seduction 'gurus' sell.

I know that Strauss is considered to be Mystery's top student, so he must have a good understanding of what these guys do. I don't have the time to look into all of the different 'methods' that they have over at mASF, so it would be good to see Strass' summary of the techniques that the top guys use (Tyler Durden, Mystery, Juggler, Gunwitch, DeAngelo, Jeffries, etc).

I'll probably sue him for stealing part of my signature.

If you're familiar with the guys at mASF, Neil Strauss is Style. He is also (as far as I know) the New York Times rock critic and a writer for Rolling Stone. He's supposed to have incredible game, and he invented many of the most popular opinion openers and the Dual Induction Massage Technique for initiating threesomes.

Thundercat (from www.thundercatseductionlair.com) claims that Style is also the best PUA in the world.... 2 years running. Not bad for a guy who took this hobby on as a side project.

This all gives me a damn good idea.

Go to fastseduction with the idea in your mind that you are a writer who wants to summarize the techniques they use. Then go and apply them, merely for use in your "article". This takes the pressure off.

You try them out, if they don't work who cares you have your "article"

I will have to seriously look into this idea!

Maybe a month spent with each technique?

I don't like the typical 'game' they teach on mASF, I find it way too technical and somewhat artificial, however the book is 464 pages and only $19, so I'll definetly check it out.

It's coming! Tuesday September 6th.

Here is a link for a discussion that the book will have on the community.

I can guarantee that there will be many newbies on this forum after the media exposure of this book. (the people who do not have the patience to go through all of the required reading before posting on mASF will find these boards... count on it)

Did you guys read his article in Esquire on how he gamed Britney Spears? It's a fascinating read to say the least, but the bum got her number and never called

He made a lame ass excuse for not calling. Now where is all that confidence he got? Maybe it was all hidden behind techniques.

Heres the deal

I think alot of people will fluff this off. Very few people will put the effort in.

But that being said.

I think persistence beats any technique. Using the techniques with persistence is deadly.

If I ever get to where I do this all the time, I'll be kicking ass. The most I've gotten up to is 3 GF's at a time.

Without strong Inner game, all the techniques in the world are worthless.

Like TD's 25 points, they are mostly just addressing the symptoms and not the cause.

Fix your inner game, and those 25 points take care of themselves.

Too many of these guru's teach technique while ignoring or glossing over the hardest part, and that's fixing one's inner game.

It's so much easier to teach some routines, and to push guys into sets than to actually address why they need to be pushed into sets in the first place.

I met Style and he's a really cool guy and very charismatic. I don't doubt that he's a top PUA.

I recommend his book.

And also, there will be a new David DeAngelo product coming out "Cliff's List Seminar 2005" which is the three day Montreal PUA summit this summer where all of the best PUAs explained their teachings. All the top guys spoke at that one including Style, TD, Mystery, David DeAngelo, etc etc.

Enjoy.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
[Signature]Reviewed by Amy SohnI never dated Neil Strauss, but I dated guys like him. Like many New York women, I have always gone for balding, pale guys because they're grateful and good in bed. But a few years ago, a distraught Strauss decided he was a loser with women and set about transforming himself into the world's greatest pick-up artist. The Game is his long, often tedious but hilarious account of how he did it. This ugly-duckling tale will affect different readers in different ways, depending on their degree of cynicism: some will be awed by Strauss's ménage-à-trois snowball scene, while others will suspect it was cribbed from a third-rate porno Strauss watched in his pre-macking days. When his story begins Strauss is, well, a Neil: an unconfident, self-described AFC (average frustrated chump). He is also, it should be noted, a well-known rock critic who penned porn star Jenna Jameson's autobiography, leaving one wondering just how pathetic women really found him. After paying $500 to join a workshop for aspiring PUAs (pick-up artists) led by a magician named Mystery at Hollywood's Roosevelt Hotel, Strauss becomes addicted to pick-up technique. He trains with several PUA gurus, including Ross Jeffries, a hypnotist rumored to be the basis for the Tom Cruise character in Magnolia. With his brains and dedication, Strauss renames himself Style and soon becomes a master of the game—able to get sex from beautiful women who once would have run the other way.But The Game doesn't get really interesting until Strauss deviates from his NC-17 Horatio Alger story and tells what happens when he moves into a Sunset Strip mansion with a group of other PUAs. He starts to see the misogyny of the sport and realizes that most of its leaders had miserable childhoods. The AFC who became a PUA to understand women ultimately becomes an expert on men.As Strauss grows restless to talk about things other than number closes and phase shifts (the book's glossary is a juicy read of its own), the mansion loses its appeal and he reluctantly grows up. When he meets a tough-talking band mate of Courtney Love's named Lisa and they bond over music, we can guess where the narrative is headed. In the book's final pages, he dumps onto his bed all the phone numbers he's collected and tells Lisa, "I've spent two years meeting every girl in L.A. And out of them all, I chose you," which is like telling your mother-in-law that the Thanksgiving dinner you had last year at Applebee's was nothing compared to the one she just prepared. But for some reason, Lisa doesn't flee. I can only hope that in the inevitable 2007 movie version, starring Jack Black and Kate Hudson, Lisa throws the numbers in his face and leaves him for a guy who knows how to pay a girl a compliment. (Sept. 1)Amy Sohn is the author of My Old Man, which was just released in paperback by Simon & Schuster, and she writes the "Mating" column for New York magazine.

FRANCISCO: I read through that first. You've got to love the spin they feel the need to put on the book as a whole.

The AFC who became a PUA to understand women ultimately becomes an expert on men. As Strauss grows restless to talk about things other than number closes and phase shifts (the book's glossary is a juicy read of its own), the mansion loses its appeal and he reluctantly grows up

You've got to love the Freudian spin EVERY reviewer has to give any essay on a subject like this. As if men are really 'little boys who need to grow up' and can only do so by supplicating to women's security ddesires. It's almost a cliche to have any masculine desire ridiculed and parodied, then 'exposed' and 'fixed' by women.

I think men's time would be better spent reading the works of Dr. Warren Farrell PhD for a dose of reality.
