Should the guy pay for the girls prom ticket?

Some of the stuff I've read on here says to split the checks and stuff for restaurants so I was wondering if that applied to prom tickets as well. My girlfriend texted me today asking what we are doing for prom tickets and I replied with "I buy my ticket, you buy your ticket." She just said "Ok..." in response. Should I go back and tell her I'll buy her ticket? The money I'm not spending on her ticket is going to back to her in the form of flowers and stuff for my promposal to her anyway

Nothing wrong with going all out and eliciting a strong emotional response. There are no needs for power games in a relationship.
